Summer Bonanza - Join the Westland Historic Village in this year's Summer Bonanza! The event will include yard games, craft vendors, and well as direct sales vendors. The Summer Bonanza will be held on Saturday, June 23 from 12:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. at the Westland Historic Village, located at 857 North Wayne Rd. For tickets and more information, click here.

Inspire Theater Presents "Yankee Doodle Dandy: Song and Dance Man"  
Be sure to check out Inspire Theater's new musical "Yankee Doodle Dandy: Song and Dance Man." The show opens this week at the Westland Center for the Arts, located at 33455 Warren Rd. Showtimes are Saturday, June 23 at 7:30 p.m., Sunday, June 24 at 3:00 p.m., Friday, June 29 at 7:30 p.m., and Saturday, June 30 at 7:30 p.m. For tickets and more information, click here.


Scheduled Upcoming Civic Meetings - Residents are invited to attend the upcoming City meetings.  Below is a list of the meetings with their date, time and location:

Historical Commission
  • The Historical Commission will meet on Tuesday, June 26 at 7:00 p.m. at the Westland Historic Village Park, located at 857 N. Wayne Rd.
Downtown Development Authority
  • The Downtown Development Authority will meet on Thursday, June 28 at 8:00 a.m. at Westland City Hall, located at 36300 Warren Rd.

Meet & Greet at the Westland Public Library - Come meet the new director of the Westland Public Library, Ishwar Laxminarayan! Light refreshments and cake will be served to welcome Ishwar to the library. The meet and greet will be held on Wednesday, June 27 from 5:30 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at the Westland Public Library, located at 6123 Central City Pkwy.

Farmers & Artisans Market Closed - The All American Farmers and Artisans Market will be closed this week only,  on Thursday, June 28 . The Market will go back to its normal hours of 3:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. every Thursday, beginning Thursday, July 5.

Community Gathering Movie NightJoin Mayor William R. Wild for his  annual Community Gathering for  Park* it movie night! Park* it is a free outdoor family fun night that includes kid's activities and free giveaways, followed by a family  movie,Despicable Me 3,  under the stars! The Community Gathering will be held on Thursday, June 28  at the Farmers & Artisans Marketplace, located at 1901 N. Carlson.  Event Starts at 5:30 p.m.  and the movie starts at 7:00 p.m.

Training Thursdays -  Take part in the ultimate free fitness party with Training Thursdays! This Thursday, June 28 participate in a Boot Camp class followed by a Zumba Class at Old City Hall Park, located at 36601 Ford Rd. Free on-site registration begins at 5:30 p.m. and the first class starts at 6:00 p.m. For more info call (313) 655-1868.
 
Westland Youth Police Academy Applications Being Accepted - Attention high school students that live in Westland, or attend Wayne-Westland Schools! After tremendous success last year, we will be holding our Youth Police Academy again this year. Students will have opportunities to do many exciting things, just see the video! If you are interested in applying you can either get an application from the police department front desk, located at 36701 Ford Rd, or on-line using the following link. Applications are being accepted now through Friday, June 29 and can be turned in at the front desk of the police station. 

Senior Center Picnic - Come enjoy a day of fun, food, and friends at the annual Senior Center Summer Picnic! The Summer Picnic will be on Friday, June 29 at the Friendship Center, located at 1119 Newburgh. Tickets are $10 for members and $15 for residents who are not members.
