Read, Sing, Play

Children birth to 5 years old are invited to join us Monday mornings at 10:30 am for story time fun. Directly following story time there will be a craft and open play. Stop in for books, songs, rhymes,  movement activities, and more! 

Bilingual Story Time
Every Tuesday at 10:30 am

Children birth to 5 years old are invited to join Ms. Margarita Tuesday mornings at 10:30 am for a bilingual story time. We will share stories, songs and more in English and Spanish. Following the story time there will be a craft and playgroup. 
Milk & Cookies
Every Wednesday at 4:00 pm

Children in K-2 are invited to join us for an 
after-school snack, story and activity every Wednesday at

Creative Movement with Eastern CT Ballet
Thursday, April 19 at 10:30 am

For Ages 3 to 5 years old only

T he Eastern Connecticut Ballet is hosting a monthly 
Creative Movement program for children 3 to 5 years old. 
This program will be held at 10:30am on the third Thursday of 
every month.  This 45 minute program is an introduction to 
creative movement.  During class we will read a story and 
then do 35 minutes of movement around the theme. 
Children must sign up for this program, space is limited.

Make & Take Craft

Brick Builders
Saturday, April 14,  11:00 am - 1:00 pm

Love to build? Then join the Brick Builders! 
Children ages 5 to 12 years old can drop in anytime between 
11:00 am and 1:00 pm  to make their own LEGO® creation. 
The creations will be put on  display in the library until the  next meeting. 
This program will be held  on the second Saturday of every month.
Movie & Munchies: Coco
Saturday, April 21 at 11:00 am

Join us at 11:00 am for a family movie! All movies are rated G or PG and a snack will be provided for children. Parents are required to stay in the room with their child. Families are invited to bring in their own lunch or snacks. This program will be held on the third Saturday of every month.


Family Fun: Spy Training
Saturday, April 28,  11:00 am - 1:00 pm  

Children of all ages can drop-in anytime between 
11:00 am and 1:00 pm for some Family Fun! This month there will be spy training activities for the whole family, including a disguise craft and a secret agent training course. This program is free and requires no registration. This program will be held on the fourth Saturday of every month.
Poetry for Kids
Sunday, April 15,  1:30 pm - 3:00 pm

Children of all ages can visit the Children's Room between 1:30pm and 3:00pm to make their own 
haiku poem craft in honor of National Poetry Month. 
Kids will make a yarn flower craft, and then will learn about 
and create their own haikus!  No registration required, 
all materials provided while supplies last .
 
Earth Day Recycled Craft
Tuesday, April 17 at 12:30 pm

Children of all ages are invited to join us for a fun afternoon of creating their own planter using recycled materials, and planting a seed in honor of Earth Day! No registration required, all materials provided, while supplies last. 
Race to the Treasure
Thursday, April 19 & Friday, April 20 
10:00 am - 3:00 pm

The library has been taken over by pirates! You have 60 minutes to use your detective skills to find One-Eyed Jack's treasure chest and find the key to unlock it. This program is for children in 1st - 6th grade and you must call the Children's Room, 860-447-1411 x4, to register for a time slot. Each time slot is grade specific, children must be in the correct grade in order to participate. Space is limited!

Home School Workshop: 
Money Smart Week
Monday, April 23 at 12:30 pm

All families are invited to join Ms. Ty every fourth Monday of the month for a fun and educational program.  This class is open to grades 1 to 6, and all materials will be provided.

This time we will be learning about money management with a special presentation by Chelsea Groton Bank followed by a fun activity for kids to practice their money skills.
