Input on Plastics Action Plan            
 
The provincial government is seeking feedback on a proposed BC Plastics Action Plan. Interested parties can review the policy discussion paper and fill out the online survey by September 18, 2019. Formal submissions will also be accepted.  Read more 
Abandoned Vessels and Marine-Sourced Debris 
 
The provincial government has appointed MLA Sheila Malcolmson as Parliamentary Secretary for Environment, with a particular focus on abandoned vessels and marine-sourced debris. MLA Malcolmson is seeking feedback from local governments on potential solutions and challenges related to abandoned vessels and marine-sourced debris. Read more 
New Renoviction and Related Policy Guidelines  
 
The Province has created new guidelines on ending a tenancy for landlord's use of the property, addressing renovations and occupancy by a landlord, purchaser or close family member. These are intended to help clarify and build awareness of rules established under the Residential Tenancy Act and to help prevent renovictions. 
UBCM Executive Meeting Highlights     
 
Executive members met on July 10-12, 2019 for their quarterly Committee and board meetings. The July meeting provides closure on a number of year-end matters but also establishes direction for the year ahead. In addition to reviewing 279 resolutions, Executive members received delegations from the Lieutenant Governor, Honourable Janet Austin, OBC and from the Minister of Municipal Affairs and Housing, Honourable Selina Robinson. Input on Container Stewardship Plan      
 
The Brewers' Recycled Container Collection Council (BRCCC) is seeking feedback on their Schedule 1 Container Stewardship Plan, which is due for renewal this year. Comments can be submitted until September 13th.  BRCCC is offering three webinars in August and September to provide more information and answer questions from interested parties.
