To South Cove Manor Family Members and Friends:
I recently shared news with all of you about one staff member testing positive for Covid-19. That staff member is at home, and is recovering. As part of our response to that positive test, we will be testing all residents, and all staff members over the next two days. The Massachusetts Department of Public Health has revised its guidance this week related to testing, and is now encouraging all Nursing Homes to test
all residents and staff regardless of if they are symptomatic or asymptomatic. The testing procedure is completed by way of a nasal swab, and takes less than 20 seconds.
We will be conducting our staff testing on Thursday, April 16
th via a drive through testing site that will be set up in our front parking lot. This site will be for South Cove Manor staff only, and will be completely operated by our own Nursing team. All staff will be following DPH and CDC guidance while participating in the testing, and full PPE will be utilized by staff conducting the tests.
Resident testing will be completed on Friday, April 17
th. This testing will be done in resident rooms, by our nursing team. Again, all staff will be following DPH and CDC guidance while participating in the testing, and full PPE will be utilized by staff conducting the tests. Once completed, the resident and staff tests will be sent to the lab for analysis. Test results are expected to be returned to us within 3 days. We will communicate the results as soon as we receive them.
I want reiterate that we currently have ZERO residents that have tested positive, and only one staff person that has tested positive. We are conducting this facility wide testing out of an abundance of caution. The more information that we can gather now, will give us the best possible advantage in fighting this virus.
