Tim Burke Stepping Down as Publisher of The Palm Beach Post, Palm Beach Daily News
Timothy D. Burke, who led The Palm Beach Post and Palm Beach Daily News into the digital news age and strengthened the newspapers' ties in the community, is leaving his role as publisher. Burke, 58, will join LRP Media Group in Palm Beach Gardens as senior vice president and publisher of human resources products in early June.

2019 Hurricane Season Forecast, 
Will We Get a Break?
2019 hurricane season
After two consecutive seasons of devastating hurricanes, a leading forecaster is predicting a less active year as compared to 2018, but that doesn't mean it will be quiet. AccuWeather, which issued its seasonal forecast this morning, believes the 2019 hurricane season will be near normal to slightly above normal with 12 to 14 named storms.

The Police Dept is reminding businesses, residential employees, contractors and landscapers that while Town ID cards are not required, it is recommended that all new and renewal cards be obtained before a storm emergency occurs.

New Luxury Condo Going up in West Palm Beach as Bristol Almost Done

As The Bristol condo in downtown West Palm Beach nears completion, the luxury living crowd turns its focus to the new kid in town, La Clara. The upscale condominium on the downtown waterfront broke ground earlier this month at 1515 S. Flagler Drive, following a sufficient but undisclosed number of pre-construction sales.

Pilots navigating Central and South Florida's congested skies will be able to leave more of the navigating to computers and satellites, making commercial flights safer and more efficient, once a new technology is put in place, authorities said Tuesday. For decades, ground-based radio transmitters broadcast signals that pilots used as navigation markers. Now, a pilot can load pre-plotted routes from a database.

James Patterson Donates $1.25 Million to Classroom Libraries

Civic Association Director
Civic Association Director James Patterson's latest gift for literacy is a $1.25 million pledge to classroom libraries.
On Tuesday, the best-selling author announced the fifth installment for his Patterson Partnership, formed in coordination with Scholastic Book Club. Patterson is giving $250 each to 4,000 teachers around the country to help purchase books.

Environmentalists Discover Commercial Fishing Raft on North End Beach in Palm Beach

Diane Buhler, Founder of Friends of Palm Beach - the beach cleanup non-profit, called the Civic Association with a news tip Monday.  Environmentalists Bryan Galvin and Heather Bolint, found a giant plastic disk on the North End beach known as a Fish Aggregating Device (FAD).

Starting April 1, the collection and removal of tropical fish was no longer allowed at the Blue Heron Bridge and Phil Foster Park. Florida Fish and Wildlife Commission approved prohibiting the harvest / possession of tropical aquarium species at the Blue Heron Bridge dive site.

Millions of Floridians' power bills could rise dramatically as FPL and other utilities look to customers to pay more for improvements that could make the state's electrical grid more resilient from hurricanes. Newly proposed legislation, which is advancing in the Florida Senate, would establish a 10-year plan to further strengthen the state's electrical grid against damage from storms, in part by burying power lines and stepping up vegetation trimming.
