On Sunday, April 7, 2019,
the Village will hold its 7th
Annual One Stop Drop recycling event in the parking lot of Amberley Green from noon to 4:00 pm. A variety of vendors will be collecting recyclable items.
- Cohen Recycling will accept a variety of electronics. As a general rule, if it plugs in or takes a battery, they can recycle it.
- Royal Paper will provide confidential paper shredding. Paper must be clean and dry and have no binders, binder clips or metal stays.
- Goodwill will be accepting clothing and small household items.
Last year the items collected diverted 25.3 tons from the landfill. The Environmental Stewardship Committee, which sponsors this event, hopes residents will take advantage of the recycling options offered at the One Stop Drop.

Tax Season Extended Hours
For residents' convenience the Amberley Village Tax Office will extend hours during the month of April until the tax filing deadline of April 15, 2019.
Tax returns can be turned in at the Amberley Village Municipal Building Administration window during normal operating hours of Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Returns can also be dropped in the drive-up income tax box located in front of the Municipal Building at any time. The income tax box is collected daily.

Citing the lack of shovel-ready sites for advanced manufacturing to serve Greater Cincinnati, The Port invested $14 million by acquiring 2100 Section Road, razing the massive Gibson Greeting Card building and raising the property out of the flood plain. All of this to make the 56 acre site pad-ready and immediately available for an advanced manufacturing company and new job creation. Although no successful user has been identified, the property is primed for industrial redevelopment. The Amberley Village site continues to be marketed by The Port, the Regional Economic Development Initiative (REDI) Cincinnati as well as Amberley Village.

2100 Section Road Urban Manufacturing Site
|
Information about this industrial zoned site can be found on each entities' website but one tool utilized in marketing the property is a video portraying what potential advanced manufacturing could look like on the site. While conceptual in nature, it's one of many tools to assist in marketing this property worldwide. The video, available at right, uses the final grading plan of the site, our zoning and knowledge of the advanced manufacturing field to develop a layout which would maximize the footprint of the building while providing adequate parking and highlighting the amenities, such as rail service, at the site. With continued interest in the site, the Village, The Port and REDI Cincinnati are confident a corporate partner focusing on advanced manufacturing will bring vibrancy back to the site with jobs and revenue to the Village. Greater Cincinnati Water Works Water Main Replacement Project
Greater Cincinnati Water Works' (GCWW) contractor, Rack and Ballauer Excavating, has
installed and tested the new water mains, installed residential service connections and
placed new fire hydrants in service on Arborcrest Court and Drive, Longmeadow Lane,
North and South Whitetree Circle, and Lamarque Drive from Longmeadow Lane to
Whitetree Circle. Any complaints or issues you have with your service lines or restoration of your property can be made directly to the contractor, Rack and Ballauer Excavating, at (513) 738-7000.
To complete the project, the Village anticipates resurfacing each of these streets in the fall of 2019 as the Village will finalize the engineering and solicit bids this summer.

Central Corridor Gas Pipeline Extension Project
In 2015, Duke Energy completed an extensive study of the gas supply
system that serves over 500,000 customer accounts in Ohio and Kentucky. The focus of this study was the array of high-pressure steel pipelines that have been installed over the past half century or more to deliver gas into the distribution system.
The proposed pipeline will be constructed of a 20-inch diameter steel line which will run approximately 14 miles from an existing gas main near the intersection of Butler, Warren, and Hamilton counties to an existing gas main near Norwood.
Additionally, the proposed pipeline would have a 20-inch diameter and operate at approximately 400 pounds per square inch (psi).
An evidentiary
(adjudicatory)
hearing will begin at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, April 9, 2019 to allow parties to the case to provide sworn testimony and cross examine witnesses. This hearing will take place at the Public Utilities Commission of Ohio (PUCO): Hearing Room 11-A, 180 East Broad Street, Columbus, Ohio 43215.

Spring often means the return of high winds, thunder, and lightning. Duke Energy has published a list of five safety tips to help keep you safe during storm season. If your power goes out during a storm, call Duke at 1-800-543-5599. Remember to consider all downed power lines a hazard and anything touching them as energized.
- If you hear thunder, lightning is nearby. Stay inside for 30 minutes after the last thunder clap.
- Monitor local media or NOAA Weather Radio for updates.
- If a severe thunderstorm warning is issued, take shelter and keep away from windows, avoid electrical equipment and telephones (use battery-powered devices); do not take a bath, shower or use plumbing.
- If you are driving, try to park. Stay in the vehicle until the heavy rain ends and avoid touching surfaces that conduct electricity. Avoid high ground, water, trees and metal objects, picnic shelters, dugouts and sheds.
- If a power line falls across your vehicle, stay in it until professional assistance arrives. If you must get out, jump clear and land on both feet. Don't touch the vehicle when your feet are on the ground.

One of the fabulous amenities available in Amberley Village is the tennis
courts! Found in two locations, Amberley Green and next to the Municipal Building, residents and non-residents may purchase key cards that allow access to the courts.
Interested players can bring a valid ID to the Police dispatch window 24 hours a day to purchase a tennis court key card. In 2019 only two-year access cards are being issued. These cards are valid for 2019 and 2020. If you have any questions about obtaining a card, please contact the Amberley Police dispatch at 531-2040.

Hub Garden Programs
The Amberley Green Organic Community Garden will proudly play first time host to multiple hub garden programs this year. Arranged by the
Civic Garden Center, the hub garden programs are a great opportunity to learn alongside local experts and socialize with fellow garden enthusiasts. Program topics will alternate between gardening and cooking with seasonal produce. Gardening programs will last approximately 1 hour and 15 minutes while cooking programs will last 2 hours. Meet in the garden at Amberley Green behind the clubhouse. There's no need to be a current member of the garden to attend!

Hamilton County Recycling and Solid Waste District makes available at not cost to residents of Hamilton County the opportunity to safely dispose of chemicals you may
have stored in your home. Opened on March 21, 2019, the program will run Thursdays from 1pm to 7pm through October 24, 2019.
Residents must show proof of residency and drop-off will only occur during designated hours. Businesses and non-profits are not eligible to participate.

How to Dry Out Your Latex Paint |
Latex Paint
Latex paint is not hazardous waste and can be safely thrown away with your regular trash once it is solid. Because garbage collectors cannot pick up liquids, simply leave the lid off and mix in sand, sawdust, or kitty litter to speed up the drying process. Once it is solid, place the can next to your trash with the lid off so your garbage collector can see the paint is dry.

Arbor Day/Earth Day Celebration
Join the Environmental Stewardship Committee and fellow residents on Wednesday, April 24, at 6 p.m. to celebrate Arbor Day. A proclamation will be read in honor of the day and a new tree added to the landscape at the Amberley Village Municipal Building.
Founded in 1972, the centennial of the first Arbor Day observance in the 19th century, the Foundation has grown to become the largest nonprofit membership organization dedicated to planting trees, with over one million members, supporters, and valued partners.
