And now the recovery phase ...

New Richmond and other riverside communities in Clermont County experienced substantial flooding the weekend of Feb. 24-25. And then a tornado came through early Sunday morning.

The Clermont County Emergency Management Agency worked as the coordinating agency for all the jurisdictions involved in a Unified Command set up first at New Richmond Middle School and then at Pierce Township Administration Building, where it continues to operate.

Tonight -- MONDAY -- a town hall meeting is being held for residents of ALL communities affected by the flooding or tornado. The meeting will begin at 6 p.m. at the gymnasium at Market Street School, 212 Market St., New Richmond. Officials will be on hand to provide information and answer questions.

Many thanks to all the non-profit agencies and businesses that have helped during this time: The Greater Cincinnati American Red Cross (shelter & assistance); Tri-State CART (pet shelter); Matthew 25 Ministries (cleaning/hygiene supplies, partnering with P&G and Cintas); Lowe's; Salvation Army, and Team Rubicon to name a few. Also, thanks to New Richmond schools for sharing their facilities.

Clermont County Commissioners named Thomas J. Eigel county administrator on Feb. 21. He had been interim administrator.

Eigel, who reports directly to the Commissioners, is responsible for the budget and operations of all county departments that fall within the purview of the Commissioners.

Scout builds a bridge for Pattison Park

Milford High School sophomore Max Kelley, above center, designed and built a bridge on the sugar bush trail at the Clermont Park District's Pattison Park for his Eagle Scout project.

"It feels pretty darn good, like a lot of hard work has been completed," Kelley said of the finished bridge. "I hope I can come back with my own kids some day, show them this bridge and ask them, 'What do you want to do with your lives?' This bridge for me is the beginning of what I want to do with mine."
