A public information meeting on the proposed Newtonsville wastewater system and treatment plant will be held at 7 p.m. Tuesday, March 13, at CNE High School, 5327 Hutchinson Road, Batavia. Doors will open at 6:30 p.m. Newtonsville property owners are invited to attend and participate. 

The Clermont County Water Resources Department and Clermont County Public Health will present information and answer questions regarding the need for a sewer system in Newstonsville. Commissioners will listen to comments from property owners both for and against the project.

Milford High School sophomore Max Kelley, above center, designed and built a bridge on the sugar bush trail at the Clermont Park District's Pattison Park for his Eagle Scout project.

"It feels pretty darn good, like a lot of hard work has been completed," Kelley said of the finished bridge. "I hope I can come back with my own kids some day, show them this bridge and ask them, 'What do you want to do with your lives?' This bridge for me is the beginning of what I want to do with mine." Mercy Clermont Hospital and Clermont County Public Health have partnered to offer a free syringe services program starting March 1.

The Exchange Project van, which is operated by Hamilton County Public Health, will visit the Clermont Hospital campus every Thursday from 10 a.m.-1 p.m. The hospital is located at 3000 Hospital Drive, Batavia, Ohio 45103.

The program also offers testing and referral to treatment for HIV and Hepatitis C, education on prevention of infection and an access point to substance use disorder counseling and treatment programs. The program also provides naloxone, also known as Narcan, an opiate overdose reversal medication. Read more here.

Thanks to the efforts of the East Fork Watershed Cooperative, the USDA Natural Resources Conservation Service recently announced that $300,000 in funding has been allocated for agricultural conservation practices in the East Fork Little Miami River watershed.

The funds are provided under the Environmental Quality Incentives Program (EQIP). Through EQIP, agricultural producers may receive financial help with conservation practices such as cover crops, nutrient management, conservation tillage, filter strips and more. Farmers in the East Fork watershed -- including those in Brown, Clermont, Clinton, Highland and Warren counties -- can submit applications for funding through April 20.

POLL WORKERS: The Clermont County Board of Elections is recruiting precinct election officials  - better known as poll workers - to staff polling locations for both the May 8 primary election and the Nov. 6 general election. Poll workers are paid a minimum of $155 for attending the 2-3 hour training course held at the Board of Elections, and working Election Day. On Election Day, polls are open 6:30 a.m.-7:30 p.m. in Ohio. Read more here.
