The dance jubilee features a full day of competitions, social dancing, participatory workshops and performances by local dance companies - including (at Jay Pritzker Pavilion, 6:30-7:30pm) Hubbard Street Dance Chicago, Cerqua Rivera Dance Theatre, Joel Hall Dancers, and Rated 'E' Chicago Dance Crew. DCASE Announced Kwame Amoaku as Director of the Chicago Film Office
Kwame Amoaku brings 25 years of experience in the film industry as an executive producer, director, assistant director, production manager, location manager, actor and writer. Prior to joining the Chicago Film Office, Amoaku was location manager for the NBC series, "Chicago Fire" (since 2014) and for the Netflix movie based on Chicago's hip-hop scene, "Beats" (2019). His acting credits include "Chicago Fire," "ER" and "Prison Break." He attended Southern Illinois University. The City of Chicago partners with the Illinois Film Office to award a 30 percent tax credit for film, television and advertising productions who can demonstrate qualified expenditures on local crew, goods and services. According to recent data, projects in 2018 employed 13,848 non-extra job hires and generated more than $282 million in wages. More information at

$1.3 Million in Direct Support to the Local Theatre Community is Awarded through the 2019 Year of Chicago Theatre
As part of the 2019 Year of Chicago Theatre, Mayor Lori E. Lightfoot and DCASE have announced more than $835,750 in financial grants to 116 theatre and dance artists, nonprofit theatres and other community organizations - with a special focus on supporting theatre on the South, Southwest and West Sides. In addition to these Cultural Grants Program funds, DCASE will provide more than $448,650 in performance fees and commissions to showcase 157 theatres, theatre-makers and dance-makers as part of its free public programming.
