Junior Classic Cattle Check-In Requirements 
Registration papers and health certificates are required for cattle check-in at the 2018 AGJA Corn Fed Classic. According to the Iowa State Veterinarian, certificate of veterinary inspection will be required for all animals being shown at the Corn Fed Classic. The animal's tattoo must appear on the health certificate. These papers will be checked at the time of check-in at the show; any animal that does not have the correct documents will not be allowed to show. For questions regarding this matter, please contact Taylor Evans at the AGA office or the Iowa Department of Agriculture at 515-281-5321.
Scott Gemar Memorial Golf Outing
The Scott Gemar Memorial Golf Outing will be held on Wednesday, July 4, at South Hills Golf Course located at 1830 E Shaulis Road, Waterloo, Iowa. Adults wishing to attend the outing must call the golf course at 319-291-4268 on or after June 27 to set a tee time. 
Back Tag Numbers
Exhibitors will receive back tag numbers for the cattle show in their packet at exhibitor check-in. Back tag numbers for the cattle show will start with 500 and go up. Separate back tag numbers (1-200) will be worn during the showmanship contest. Back tag numbers for showmanship will be given out prior to the show and will be designated by a different color. All back tag numbers must be worn on the exhibitor’s back.
Fun Day 
This year’s fun day will take place on Wednesday, July 4 starting at 1:30 p.m. at Lost Island Waterpark in Waterloo. Tickets for the waterpark will be handed out at lunch on Wednesday.
Don’t Forget Your Blue Polo!
Don’t forget to pack your blue polo on your trip to Waterloo. Contestants are required to wear the official AGJA blue polo shirts, long pants, and hard soled, close-toed shoes when competing in all cattle handling contests, e.g., showmanship, cattle show, team fitting, and sales talk. The polo must also be worn during the official AGJA group photo, which will be taken at 12:45 p.m. on Wednesday, July 4. Polos will be available for purchase for $20 throughout the show, however sizes are limited. For best availability on sizes, be sure to purchase a polo during exhibitor check-in on Sunday.

Grounds Information
  • Exhibitors are encouraged to bring generators and tents.
  • Straw for tie-out bedding and hay will be provided.
  • There is NO parking allowed around the cattle barns. Daily parking is in front of the Pepsi Pavilion near the entrance gate or the trailer parking area.
  • All dogs must be on a leash and any dog deemed unruly will be asked to leave the fairgrounds.

Happy Independence Day!
The fireworks display to celebrate Independence Day will take place in Waterloo on Wednesday, July 4 at the Riverfront Stadium. Fireworks can be seen from the National Congress grounds but maybe not from the hotel. 
Pop Can Tabs  
Be sure to bring your stash of aluminum can tabs! The three states that collect the most can tabs (as measured by weight) will earn valuable State Challenge Cup points. Can tabs need to be turned in at Opening Ceremonies and the final results will be shared at the banquet. All proceeds from the aluminum can tabs will be donated to the Ronald McDonald House.
No Alcohol Allowed on the Grounds
This is a junior event and there is a no alcohol rule in the barns and on the grounds. First violation will result in a verbal warning. Consequences from a second violation will be determined by the AGJA Board and may be as severe as being dismissed from the show.

Quiz bowl statements and Skill-A-Thon study guides are available on the Contest Resources page on www.gelbvieh.org. Be sure to print the statements and study guides at home to be able to study them on the road to Waterloo!
Steer Exhibitor Check-In
Steer weigh-in will take place at cattle check-in on Sunday, July 1. If you are showing a steer and have not already turned in a steer affidavit, please be sure to bring it or the registration paper with you to cattle check-in.
Perspective AGJA BOD Candidates
If you are elected to the AGJA Board of Directors at the annual meeting on Wednesday, July 4, you will need a white button-up collared shirt (gentlemen, don’t forget your tie!), black pants, and dress boots or shoes for the banquet. All elected board members will be asked to work the ring on show days and will need to wear a white button-up collared shirt, nice jeans, and boots.
State Association Photos
State associations are encouraged to bring their state flag for opening ceremonies. Once each state is announced during opening ceremonies, each state will have their group photo taken at the photo backdrop.
Awards Banquet
The awards banquet is on Friday, July 6, and will be held at the Electric Park Ballroom located on the National Cattle Congress grounds. The dance will take place after the banquet in the Electric Park Ballroom.

If you still need to purchase tickets for the banquet, tickets will be available throughout the week and can be purchased at the show office.

For those who are unable to make it to the show, both show days, Thursday, July 5, and Friday, July 6, will be broadcast this year through Walton Webcasting. A link to the live broadcast will be sent out via email and will be available on the Junior Classic page on www.gelbvieh.org as well as on the AGA and AGJA Facebook pages.

Register for The Summit  
Don’t forget to register for The Summit before you leave for junior classic! This youth leadership conference is for youth ages 14-22 interested in the beef industry and will be held in Fort Worth, Texas, July 19-22, 2018. Registration deadline is July 1, and only 100 spots are available!
