We decided to do a Best of BobBlast this week for a couple of reasons...
Holidays and Holidays... also I have been getting several special requests for Blasts that show me painting - really painting, while not rushed and/or teaching! I thought my painting improv of faces would be perfect! Never fear - we will return to
Part 3 of the Painting Bigger demos.
About Bob's Painting Improv - 3 Faces
The following film was photographed at the end of the day - after hours during my recent Studio Mentor Workshop. Many of the students return at night and continue painting their work into late at night. You may even hear some of the chatter in the background.
In the 3-1/2 day Studio Mentor Workshop, everyone arrives with their own goals - their own projects... getting ready for an exhibit, starting new work, or just to loosen up an old body of work. I'm there to offer guidance.
After hours - this is my time to concentrate on my own exploration and improvisation. This painting video shows me pushing paint around. Portraits/Faces, are not usually a subject I'm comfortable with. So instead, my approach is to explore moments with colors and paint improv portraits... my way.
I thank Robin Walker for shooting this secretly behind me. Afterwards, it was weird watching myself go through and relive these "moments of exploration."
Thanks for watching me paint my first improv portraits. Experimental change of direction - got to start somewhere and I had fun with these!
