Lincoln Elementary Second Grade Classes Exceed Fundraising Goals for ESCCA!
Congratulations to the entire Lincoln Elementary Second Grade class in their donation efforts to Evanston School Children’s Clothing Association (ESCCA)! The team exceeded their original goal of $500 by donating $1,600 to the organization, which was then matched by a Lincoln Elementary second grade parent. The total donation amount that ESCCA will receive on behalf of second grade educators, classrooms, and community members is $3,200! In December, ESCCA partnered with D65's Nutrition Services curbside pick-up program and distributed drawstring backpacks, each filled with hats, scarves, and gloves to 1,200 D65 students. This month, ESCCA has reopened its donation bins at the JEH Education Center. Those who are interested in donating clothing and supplies can locate ESCCA members on the west side of the JEH Education Center on Tuesdays from 12-2 PM.

Save the Date - Black Lives Matter at School Week of Action - February 1-5
Mark your calendars! D65 will be celebrating our Black Lives Matter at School Week of Action during the week of February 1. This is an important opportunity for each of us to promote racial equity work, center Black lives and contributions in our teaching and learning, and connect our community to a global network of individuals striving to make the world more just. As we enter our third year sponsoring this week, D65 continues to refine the lessons based on feedback. A diverse group of educators invested a great deal of time, care, and knowledge this summer into revising lessons and materials to help ensure a meaningful experience for all. These lessons can be accessed through the following website. We firmly and proudly stand by our educators and administrators in supporting Black Lives Matter at School Week of Action. We are continuing our work towards creating a more inclusive curriculum that integrates the history, experiences, and achievements of those who have traditionally been erased or unseen, including people of color, people who identify as LGBTQ+, people of different ability status, and other marginalized groups, throughout the school year.
