Value Based P4P Newsletter
JULY 2018
Welcome to the VBP4P newsletter!
The goal of the VBP4P monthly newsletter is to keep stakeholders up to date about program changes and deadlines. The newsletter has three main content areas:
  • Need to Do, which will alert stakeholders to information and requirements for successful program participation, such as upcoming deadlines.
  • In Other News, which will share other program-related news, such as upcoming webinars or conferences.
  • In the Pipeline, which will provide a longer term view of upcoming key VBP4P program dates.
All VBP4P newsletters will be archived in the Newsletters section of the IHA website, so you can easily find and share the latest program information.
Need to Do
Coming Soon: Measurement Year (MY) 2017 Final Quality & Preliminary Resource Use/Cost Results
Quality & Patient Experience Available Aug. 6
IHA staff thanks   physician organizations (POs) that submitted questions and health plans that supported investigation , as well as   participant representatives who sat on this year's Appeals Panel. Your active participation strengthened the final quality data and the VBP4P data collection and reporting process - including one PO appeal which surfaced a health plan error that impacted all POs contracted with that plan and was corrected for everyone as a result of their appeal.  The final  MY 2017  quality results include updates resulting from appeals upheld during the Questions and Appeals period and  will be available Aug. 6, 2018, on the VBP4P  Reporting Portal

Resource Use and Cost Results Available Aug. 28
MY 2017 preliminary ARU and TCC results have been delayed because of delays encountered during the health plan data submission. Please see the updated timeline for release, review and finalization of MY 2017 ARU/TCC results below. The timeline reflects a roughly two-week delay in releasing the reports.

 Preliminary ARU/TCC reports released
 Aug. 28, 2018
 Review & Questions Period
 Aug. 28-Sept. 18, 2018
 Final ARU/TCC reports released
TBD pending results of review period

As a reminder, each health plan submits ARU and TCC results on behalf of all contracted POs. Preliminary results are then subject to a three-week review by POs before the results are finalized. Final ARU/TCC report results are used, in conjunction with the final quality report results, as the basis for VBP4P shared-savings incentives, public reporting (readmissions and total cost of care only - see the MY 2017 measure set) and determining Excellence in Healthcare Award winners.

Annual Public Comment Period Opens Sept. 1
Each September, the VBP4P program solicits stakeholder feedback on planned program updates. The annual VBP4P public comment period marks the release of the Call for Public Comment document, which summarizes proposed changes, as well as several important program documents, including:
  • General program policy updates
  • MY 2019 Measure Set
  • MY 2018 Draft Program Manual
Public comment is an opportunity to gather feedback on proposed program changes, the measure set, and measure specifications in the Program Manual. VBP4P staff review every comment and take your feedback to the IHA committees governing the program. Public comment will open Sept. 1, 2018 (a Saturday, so expect to see the Call for Public Comment document up by end of day Friday, Aug. 31).
