The bike trail between Colby Park and the Windsor Heights dog park is closed due to a sinkhole beneath the trail. Please do not travel this section of the bike trail.



Flood and Water Damage Reporting
Please fill out this form and advise us of any water or flood damage that may have occurred to your residence during the storm on Saturday night. 
Disaster Recovery Center
Polk County and partners throughout the metro area will be hosting a flood disaster recovery center for those impacted by the floods. The flood disaster recovery center will be located at Polk County River Place (2309 Euclid Ave.)  Individuals can also contact 211 for additional resources and questions regarding the flood recovery center. If you need assistance, please call 211.
Red Cross at Windsor Heights Hy-Vee
 The American Red Cross Serving Greater Iowa is setting up locations for distribution of flood cleanup supplies and more in central Iowa.
Starting Friday, July 6th, the locations and their hours are as follows:
  • Polk County Disaster Recovery Center (Friday 8 a.m.-2 p.m., Saturday 10 a.m.-2.p.m., Sunday 1 p.m.-4 p.m.)
  • Windsor Heights Hy-Vee (Friday, Saturday and Sunday 10 a.m.-7 p.m.)
  • Merle Hay Mall next to the SERVPRO Staging Area (Friday, Saturday and Sunday 10 a.m.-7 p.m.)
  • Fourmile Recreation Center-South end (Friday, Saturday, and Sunday 10 a.m.-7 p.m.)
  • K-Mart at 2535 Hubbell (Friday, Saturday and Sunday 10 a.m.-7 p.m.)
Calling all Volunteers!!- July 7th Clean-up at Colby Park
WE NEED YOUR HELP!
Saturday, July 7th 9 a.m. - Noon- Community Clean-up at Colby Park
Let's all join together and make Colby Park beautiful again! Residents and friends of Windsor Heights please volunteer to help clean-up Colby Park. Join your community at 9 a.m. on Saturday, July 7th, at Colby Park. We appreciate any length of time you are able to donate! We will hold a brief meeting and provide volunteers with assignments in the park, bike trail, and dog park. The community center will be open as a cooling center throughout the clean-up, with water provided. We ask the volunteers to bring rakes, shovels, work gloves and any other yard equipment that might be used for park clean up. Please wear appropriate clothing for the heat and closed toed shoes.
69th Street Patching and Paving
The Contractor will be patching and paving on 69 th Street north of Timmons Drive on Monday, July 9 th.  The Contractor is waiting to finish patching and paving south of Timmons Drive until sump pumps stop running at a slower rate and until a determination if a storm sewer repair is needed at the intersection with Washington Avenue.  This work is anticipated to be completed later in the week.  These streets will be closed to traffic while paving occurs.  Those affected residents have been notified.  All work is weather dependent.
70th Street Patching and Paving
Work will begin on 70 th Street between Colby Avenue and University Avenue starting Monday, July 9 th.  This segment will be milled, patched and a new surface placed.  The roadway will be closed to thru traffic for the duration of the work.  A marked detour will be in place for motorist to follow.  All work is weather dependent.
63rd Sidewalk Updates
The Contractor will continue pouring sidewalk and driveways the week of July 9 th  along with constructing retaining walls and grading.  Lane closure on 63 rd Street (Hwy 28) will continue between 9 a.m. and  3 p.m. while the Contractor is working.  All work is weather dependent.
