FEATURE: Are You Writing Persuasively? Take the Features-Benefits Quiz to Find Out

One of the most frequent copywriting pitfalls is to focus on features, rather than benefits.

The danger is in being ordinary. Features, you see, are simply observations that anyone can write about, which are not very persuasive.

Benefits, on the other hand, go a step further by spelling out what those observations can do for the reader. Benefit-oriented writing is not a quick fix but rather demonstrates that you understand the reader ... which is what makes it a cornerstone of persuasion. Which means understanding the difference between features and benefits is a valuable persuasive writing skill.
