July 7, 2018

Dear Lower School Families,
As you may be beginning to prepare for the upcoming school year, I want to make you aware of a modification to the lower school portion of the Academy Dress Code regarding footwear. Please note the following change: students in the Lower School may now wear athletic or dress shoes. Slippers, Crocs and Ugg-type shoes are not allowed, however, and shoes must be worn at all times on campus. The clothing part of the lower school dress code remains the same as in previous years.

Children in our new 3-year-old program are not required to wear dress-code attire. Those children are encouraged to wear clothing that can get dirty and allows for independence in fastening, zipping, buttoning, etc. Their shoes should be closed-toed, comfortable and have a rubber sole. Slip-on or Velcro shoes are encouraged for independence in dressing.

Also, the Lower School's 2018-19 key calendar dates and supply lists are now available on the Family Resources Page. Just visit www.columbusacademy.org/parents and scroll down to Lower School Resources, where you can also find each grade's summer reading suggestions compiled by our librarians and faculty.

And any returning families who missed my request earlier this week, please complete the online survey by July 16 to provide us with your feedback on the 2017-18 school year.

Expect more communications from the school later this month and especially in August as we approach back-to-school activities.

For now, though, enjoy this wonderful weather and any opportunities to spend time with family and friends. We'll see you soon.
Warm regards,
