Love your neighbor as yourself
Servant to Servant                                      7-6-2018

From the Bishop

I would like to offer a big "Thank you!" to the entire English District for entrusting me with three more years to serve as your Bishop and President. I am thankful for the partnership in ministry and the work we do to proclaim Christ and His love to a fallen world.

It has been a busy time this past month and it will continue to be busy for the next several weeks. There are many good things that are happening for the sake of the gospel.

We had a great convention and received many wonderful comments filled will support and encouragement.

Thanks again, to my staff! They did a fantastic job and made sure that everyone was cared for and everything ran smoothly.

I plan on announcing my next triennial theme, hopefully in early August.

In Christ,
Bishop Jamison J. Hardy

A Dollar for Missions
One dollar, per member, per week = 1-1-1!

The English District has launched a new model for funding missions to which every congregation is invited to participate. It is completely voluntary, but we believe that as God's people see and hear what is being accomplished, specifically and directly in support and development of new missions and enhancing existing missions, more and more of us will want to be involved.

It's simple. Very simple. It is NOT burdensome, nor sacrificial. It involves every baptized member of the Body of Jesus in your congregation, from the newest baby baptized to the oldest member. It demonstrates the power of the beautiful body of Christ working together, prompted by faith. It shows how much can be accomplished by many, giving little.

Here's the plan: $1/per baptized member/per week. Simple, right? Self-explanatory almost. Not burdensome, nor sacrificial. All can participate.  Click here for more information.

A Dollar for Missions Video

Trinity, Scarsdale, NY adopts

this resolution.

Ink and Paper - 30 cents; Clear Plastic Donation Box - $24; The Feeling of Joy in Our Giving - Priceless

Be Inspired! The English District at its last convention resolved to adopt the 1-1-1 fundraising program.

$1/per member/per week could raise 2.5 million dollars more across the board to support our missions here and abroad! It's not a burden, it makes no dent in your wallet. It's not even a sacrifice. Feel joy today by supporting our District and loving your neighbor as yourself!

Thank you.
Rev. Gordon Naumann

Packages4Patriots
The  Packages4Patriots mission to deployed service members out of Holy Spirit, Elk Grove Village, IL, celebrated its eighth official anniversary. Over the past eight years, with the help of the congregation and the communities surrounding Elk Grove Village, they have shipped over 94,000 pounds of good things to our deployed military.

The cards and notes received from thankful service members reflect this simple statement, as recently shared by Kathi Mode, coordinator for the mission:
"This is a thank you card we received in today's mail. There was no signature, probably for security reasons, but I know it came from CAMP SHORAB, Afghanistan."
In our churches

An emotional farewell
Sunday, July 1, 2018 Epiphany Lutheran Church, Northfield, OH, the congregation held its last worship service and closed the building. In the picture below, Pastor Chris Just holds the crucifix as the last item of worship to be removed. Pastor Just and Kristine have served the congregation for 25 years.

Team building activities at Ascension, Tucson, AZ, help students learn to work together. They were given a frozen, folded T-shirt that they had to unfold and take turns putting it on. A cool way to work together on a hot summer day.
