Origin of the term bargello - a kind of embroidery, typically worked on upholstery fabrics, in stitch patterns suggestive of flames.

A B argello quilt is one made of strips of fabric sewn together to create movement. These patterns look complicated, but are ideal for beginning quilters. If you can sew a straight seam, you can make a bargello quilt!
