2018 Lakeview East Festival of the Arts

INTERESTED IN VOLUNTEERING AT THE LAKEVIEW EAST FESTIVAL OF THE ARTS?
 
The Lakeview East Chamber of Commerce is seeking volunteers to assist at the 2018 Lakeview East Festival of the Arts. The 2018 Festival will run from Friday, September 7th-Sunday, September 9th and we are looking for help in all areas of the festival. Volunteers will receive a festival t-shirt and a drink ticket for the festival, please email [email protected] to sign up!

REMINDER:  MINIMUM WAGE INCREASED ON JULY 1ST
 
Pursuant to the Chicago Minimum Wage and Paid Sick Leave Ordinance, MCC Chapter 1-24, beginning on July 1, 2018 the minimum hourly wage for Covered Employees 
will increase from $11.00 to $12.00 per hour.

The hourly wage for Covered Employees engaged in occupations receiving gratuities will increase from $6.10 to $6.25 per hour. Under both Illinois law and the Chicago ordinance, if an employee's wages plus tips do not equal at least the number of hours worked times the applicable minimum wage, his or her employer must make up the difference.

Wellington Water Main Replacement

NPL crews will be preforming cross-street connections which will require at least two separate water shut-offs.  The first of the two shut-offs will include properties between Sheffield and Seminary and is expected to take place tomorrow, July 12th .  Notice to all affected properties will be posted on front doors 48-hours in advance of the water service interruption.

Parking will be restricted throughout the project Monday through Friday between the hours of 7:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. as needed. Traffic may be stopped from time to time to allow construction vehicles to move through the construction area.
Alderman Tom Tunney's Annual Senior Picnic

The 44th Ward and Alderman Tom Tunney are holding their Annual Senior Picnic on
Tuesday, July 17th from 11am-1pm. Lunch will be provided by John Barleycorn and there will be entertainment and prizes! For more information view the flyer  here .
19th District Police Events
Anti-Theft and Burglary  Prevention Forum

The Chicago Police Department will be holding an Anti Theft and Burglary Prevention Forum entitled "Keeping It Real" on Thursday, July 26th. The forum is at the Olson Auditorium at Advocate Hospital, 836 W. Wellington from 7pm-8:30pm. The panel will include convicted burglars. The community is strongly encouraged to attend!

Join Starbucks and the 19th District Community Policing Office from 11:30am-1pm at the 3030 N. Broadway Starbucks to have coffee!
National Night Out Block Party

The 19th Police District will be having their National Night Out Block Party on Tuesday, August 7th 2018, from 5:30pm-7:30pm . The theme is Midnight Circus! There will be free hot dogs, drinks, games, and more.

19th District Community Alternative Policing Strategies (CAPS)

The 44th Ward is served by the 19th District (bounded by Lawrence, Lake Shore Drive, Fullerton, and the Chicago River). Each police district is divided in beats, and each beat has a team of beat officers assigned to it. Police representatives from these teams and local community leaders conduct the CAPS meetings.
