From the Pastor
Greetings all,
This week, I have the privilege of volunteering as the chaplain at Camp Crestfield. Not only it is a joy to do so, it is even more special to be there with Sarah and Liam. Liam, as you would expect, has never been to camp, so we are really glad to give him the chance to experience it.
Sarah and I have co-chaplained at Crestfield before, and we had a great time. We cover the devotions for the counselors in the morning, interact with campers and staff during the day, and then lead vespers every evening. It's a wonderful chance to get to see the living breathing Church outside the walls of a traditional setting. If you have never been, I highly recommend going. Its amazing to see God at work as kids experience all the fun of the camp.
Ok- have a great week - see you Sunday!
Blessings and peace,
Ben

We will meet in the choir loft at 9:15 AM to learn the music that we will sing during the worship service at 10:00 AM.

Your Per Capita Contribution
by Mark Nootbaar
As in past years, Northmont's 2018 budget does not allocate any general operating funds to cover our per capita responsibilities. As a reminder, per capita is a Latin phrase that roughly translates to "for each person." In the Presbyterian Church, it means the amount each church is expected to donate per member to support the work of the larger church.
Along with your July offering envelopes you should have received a special envelope specifically intended for your per capita giving. This year the per capita has been set at $33.05 for every member of the church.
Of that $33.05, $23.02 goes to the Pittsburgh Presbytery to run its operations, $2.30 is sent along to the Synod of the Trinity, and the remaining $7.73 is given to the General Assembly for its global work.
To be clear, no money donated to Northmont's general fund goes to pay per capita. However, the Presbytery charges Northmont for each member listed on our rolls. That means it is up to each member to cover his or her own per capita responsibility. If a husband and wife are both members, the per capita cost would be $66.10. Adult children who are members would be responsible for their own per capita payment.
Please make every effort to submit your per capita gift using the special envelope and dropping it in the offering plate. Extra per capita payments can assist members who will be unable to cover their own per capita payments this year.

Our pastor, elders, deacons, committee members and all of the Northmont community
Our neighbors
All those affected by war
All those affected by natural disasters
All those affected by school shootings, violent crimes and other senseless acts of violence
All those who must, literally, today pray for their daily bread
All those who must meet secretly, in order to worship God
All those who suffer persecution for loving the Lord
All those in need of healing
All those who are bereaved
Our sister church, Mangochi CCAP, in Mangochi, Malawi
Our sister church, Second Presbyterian Church, in Wilkinsburg, Pennsylvania
Our global mission partners, the Ludwig family, the Weller family, and Kay Day
Members of the congregation who are seeking employment
The leaders of our federal, state, and local governments
All the men and women of our Armed Forces and our Veterans
Our enemies, as God has called us to pray also for them, even as we may not understand why
As The Piper is posted to the World Wide Web, privacy concerns dictate that we no longer publish the entire weekly Prayer Chain. If you would like to receive the Prayer Chain by email, please contact Jane Nicola or the church office.
