trachoma treatment, blood pressure & glucose monitoring nutrition & hygiene, and treatment of parasitic illness.

Dr. Toro and Outreach Team

T he Health Wagon was generously donated Dr. Harshad & Bharti Sandhvi with Jhpiego and Johns Hopkins Hospital. Currently, a  Toyota Land Cruiser is being leased on a month-to-month basis until we acquire an 'exemption of duty' with the Kenyan government and buy our own.

With the support of First Lady Edna Lenku of Kajiado, the County Ministry of Health is supplying all necessary medications, as well as, a Certified Nurse.

Elizabeth Katamboi
Elizabeth Katamboi spoke at Owanto's "One Thousand Voices" exhibition at Zeitz MOCAA Museum in support of Feb.6th,  International Day of Zero Tolerance for Female Genital Mutilation. Elizabeth shares her brave story of how she refused FGM, while convincing her mother who was one of 15 'cutters,' to allow her to continue her education. The exhibit was an immersive sound installation with a collection of audio testimonies from FGM survivors creating one collective story

We can't wait for you to welcome Elizabeth Katamboi, the first Maasai from Esiteti to ever visit the States. Elizabeth was the first girl to refuse FGM, first to graduate high school and first to finish college.
