Let’s go back to two simple lighting basics.
For thousands of years light was the primary source of light and is still the standard today.
A lumen is used to measure light output, and the candle emits about one lumen in light.
Every light fixture has a lumen rating for light output.
What is a Foot-Candle (fc)?
Foot-candles measure the light that actually hits a target area.
One Foot-candle is the amount of light that hits a 1 foot(12”) x 1 foot surface area that is 1 foot away from a candle.
With every light fixture, the important factor is getting the Foot-candles right for the activity occurring under the lights. If there’s “Too Damn Much Light!!!” you have more than you need.
