Back from Malawi
Again THANK YOU to the congregation for helping Diane and I have such an awesome experience. You will be hearing about it for years to come. You don't visit a place like Malawi and get to know the people there and remain unchanged. I look forward to seeing our relationship with our sisters and brothers in Malawi continues to grow, blessing both our churches.
Everyone we met in Malawi sends their greetings and appreciation for our visit.
But a special greeting from our sister parish in Mikalongwe.

The Joyful Bells Need You!
By now, most of us have had the pleasure of hearing the Joyful Bells play. For this wonderful group to continue, they are in need of two more ringers for the upcoming season.
Rehearsals begin in September and continue through April. Rehearsals are typically once per week. You would be playing at one Worship Service per month. Have you been at all curious about bell ringing? Even if you do not have experience, the members of Joyful Bells are willing to teach you! The Joyful Bells are a blessing to God and to Joy, please don't let this joyful musical group become a thing of the past!! JWELCA ITEMS TO NOTE FOR JULY
- Thursday, July 19, 8:15 A.M., St. Croix Valley Summer Retreat, Bethany Lutheran Church, Star Prairie
Join with the women of the St. Croix Valley Conference for a half-day of fellowship and inspiration at the St. Croix Valley 2018 Summer Retreat at Bethany Lutheran Church, 415 Bridge Avenue, Star Prairie. Registration is from 8:15- 8:45 A.M. There is no cost to our JWELCA women. Speaker is Leanne Waterworth, a published author and speaker who will tell her inspiring story of her family's journey through disease and tragedy and how they overcame and continue to be thankful, choosing joy, even in the midst of the most difficult circumstances. We will also have the opportunity to meet the new President of the Synod Women's Organization, Lori Wells. An offering will be received and we'll elect new Conference officers - coordinator, treasurer, and two board members. We will car pool from Joy. Please call Marcia Lindseth or Emilie Horken if you would like to attend this special summer retreat.

All women of Joy are invited to come and help us plan for the 2018-19 JWELCA year of activities, including programs, mission projects, special activities, and recipients of JWELCA funds. If you have ideas for us, come and share them! Everyone's input is welcome and encouraged! Devotions will be provided by Marcia Lindseth.
- Tuesday, July 31, 8:30 A.M. - Noon, Ecumenical Women's Summer Bible Study, Fireside Room at Joy
Join with other Christian women in our community for the annual Summer Bible Study. All women are welcome! The subject of this Bible Study is "Prayer." We will study 1) "The Paradoxes of Prayer," focusing on 1 Samuel 12:16-23, investigating the paradoxical truths of this spiritual practice, 2) "The Practices of Prayer," focusing on Psalm 19:14, looking at different ways to pray, what each might offer and how knowing an array of prayer styles can enrich one's devotional life, and 3) "The Products of Prayer," focusing on Romans 8:26-28, investigating the effects prayer can have personally, communally and on the church's mission. Bible study leaders are Kristen Gray, Carol Peterson, and Diane Meyer. Morning coffee and refreshments will be provided by Wilma Timm. Now that we have blended together our early and late services for the summer, it is more important than ever that we where name tags to help us get to know each other.
We have disposable stick on name tags available, or sign up to have a more permanent name tag made for you.

Calling All Bakers
We are looking for bakers who might be willing to be on a team to bake small loaves of bread to give away to visitors from our Information Desk in the narthex. We hope to have a big enough team that so that people will only have to bake once a month or less. If you are interested contact the church office.

Life Line Health Screening at Joy
Life Line Screening, a leading provider of community-based preventive health screenings, is pleased to offer a preventive health event at Joy Lutheran Church on 7/10/2018. The Bike for MS Group spent the night at Joy on Wednesday. Joy received this thank you card from the group in the morning before they left. This marked the third year in a row that the bikers have stayed at Joy! We are happy to provide them with a safe shelter as they ride to their goal..."ONE DESTINATION...A WORLD FREE OF MS".

Heart for Luther Park Raffle Tickets On Sale Now! Donated items for the auction needed!
Stop by the church office to pick up your tickets. $5.00/each or a book of 5 for $20.00. Fun begins at 9am and drawing is at the event, Sunday, August 5th at 3:00pm. Prizes can be viewed at
www.lutherpark.org. Look for posters around Joy for more information.
*Donated items are needed for Heart for Luther Part Event. We welcome beautiful quilts, silent auction baskets and other new items. If you have an item to donate for the auction, please deliver it to the church office or to Georgia Freidel by July 22nd.
