ATA Gymnastics Newsletter                                 July 2018

July is  Acro Month

If you think doing a handstand on firm ground is hard ... try doing it while balancing on someone else's hands!!! This is a common skill performed by ATA's team athletes! Here at ATA, our team competes in the exciting sport of Acrobatic Gymnastics. It is a combination of partner skills, dance and individual acrobatic and tumbling skills. Partners work in pairs or groups to perform skills of balance and of flight. 2017 will be our 5th year incorporating Acrobatic Gymnastics skills into our recreational classes. During the months of March, June and September, students will learn basic pair and group acrobatic skills in addition to their regular individual skill training. ***If you would like more information on our competitive team program, please stop by the front desk.
  •  In addition to Acro Month, we are holding an Acro Clinic on Monday, July 30th from 5:45 to 6:45pm. Space is limited. Sign up today!

Summer Closure

ATA will be closed Monday July 2-Saturday July 7 due to our summer break. Classes will resume on Monday July 9th. Please note that makeups are not needed for this scheduled time off as tuition is based on an approximate average of 4 classes per month over a 1 year period.

Morning Gymster classes will be held as normal during this closure.

July's Safety Tip:
Before participating in any physical activity, a proper warm up is essential. At ATA, all classes begin with a warm up period which includes cardio & stretching. This time helps to prepare the body for the physical demands of gymnastics. Because this time is so important, it's critical that your child arrives to class on time. In order for your child to get the most out of every class, we ask that you make punctuality a priority!

Acrobatic Gymnastics Team

End of year preparations, new energy and talent, fun in the sun and celebratory performances made June a very busy month for Team ATA!  With National Championships being held the first week of July, we are just days away from leaving for Greensboro, NC with our upper level athletes.  There is no rest of the weary as they all work hard to perfect skills and polish artistry before competing at the biggest and final competition of the season!  We are excited to have our athletes compete against the best in the nation!  They'll be ready!

Also, this month we had a couple of fun events for the Team.  First, our annual ATA BBQ and Pool Party hosted by the Greers!  Athletes filled the pool, played volleyball and ping pong and even got in a couple of games/contests involving more water!  It was a great time of rest and recreational by all!

We also held the first ever ATA Gala and Awards Ceremony.  Parents and guests had another opportunity to watch competition routines as well as fun and engaging group routines by both our Intermediate and Novice Teams.  Our newcomers had a chance to perform
alongside our veterans and a good time was had by all!  Coaches once again recognized athletes with special team awards!  There were a lot of proud moments!

Have a Great Day!

"Life needs balance.  Life needs strength.  Start with gymnastics and go anywhere"

Sincerely,
