Students, Parents, Teachers & Friends of Education,
Last month, the Winder-Barrow High School Georgia Technology Student Association (TSA) Chapter, led by Advisor Kimberly Garren, competed against 38 states and 4 other countries at the National TSA Convention in Atlanta. Dedicated exclusively to students enrolled in engineering and technology education pathway programs, TSA chapters prepare students to be successful inventors, designers, creative problem solvers, responsible citizens and leaders in a technological society. Below are some of their biggest success stories from the convention.
1. Architectural Design team of O'Leary, Cook, Wilson & Harris placed in the Top Ten.
2. Jay Still placed in the Top Ten for Transportation Modeling. Last year he won first place, so this is an amazing accomplishment to be in the top ten two years in a row.
3. Animatronics Team of Stowe, Coughlin, Hernandez & Jackson placed 15th.
Proud of our students!

Sign Post Forest
Recently retired and former Assistant Superintendent Jan Masingill carried the Barrow BOLD message to Alaska. In her own words..."
We crossed into the Yukon Territory at Watson Lake and made a stop at the famous Sign Post Forest to hang our sign - 3,424 miles to Barrow County Georgia, USA. The Sign Post Forest is one of the most famous landmarks along the Alaska Highway. It was started in 1942 by a homesick GI named Carl K Lindley who was there working on the Alaska Highway construction. He was assigned the light duty of repairing and erecting the directional signposts while recovering from an injury. He placed one of his own representing his hometown: Danville, Ill 2,835 miles. There are now over 80,000+ signs representing communities from all over the world." View video! Jan has traveled by RV from Barrow to Alaska.
