NEPA Alliance Welcomes Summer Interns
NEPA Alliance and NCAC are excited to introduce  our summer interns:

Casey Markiewicz and Sam Giordano

On left, Casey Markiewicz is a Junior at Marywood University, working towards a Bachelor's Degree in Advertising and Public Relations.  She's feverishly figuring out the details of NEPA Alliance's Annual Dinner, among many other projects designed to streamline branding and build membership.  Casey has already found a way to combine her artistic talents (photography, pottery, sketching and designing to name a few) with her educational interests in pursuing a career that enables her to create content that engages, attracts and markets the region she calls home.   Can't wait to see where this takes her!

Sam Giordano is currently a Junior at the University of Scranton, majoring in the Health Administration track.  His time at NCAC is devoted to developing a suite of customized grant searches and upgrading membership materials, while uncovering strategic fundraising opportunities for the  nonprofits in our region to utilize!   He comes with a background of community involvement, engagement in the region and a dedication to learn; we're certain you'll see his name more and more!

Do you wonder what is the speed of your Internet?
So does the Center for Rural Pennsylvania!

The Center for Rural Pennsylvania is currently sponsoring Broadband Availability and Access in Rural Pennsylvania research to analyze and assess broadband availability in Pennsylvania, and is asking Pennsylvania residents to participate in the research by taking the broadband speed test at http://broadbandtest.us .

The test results will help Pennsylvania State University researchers, led by Professor Sascha Meinrath, to measure actual Internet speeds. The test will also provide participants with information about their own broadband connection.

If you'd like to help the Center for Rural Pennsylvania and their research partners at Penn State University map broadband access in Pennsylvania,
please visit http://broadbandtest.us/ and take the broadband speed test.

Weinberg Foundation's Final Evaluation of the Rapid Re-Housing Program
In 2014, the Weinberg Foundation's Board approved an investment of $1.2 million over three years to expand Rapid Re-Housing for families in Baltimore City and then conduct an evaluation of the program.

The results of the study are largely positive, returns to homelessness are lower than the national average and there is a significant increase in income and employment in participants. As a next step, the Board approved a grant of $550,000 over two years in July 2017 to continue building-out the employment navigation component of Rapid Re-Housing.
