DuPage Early Childhood Transition Announcement
The DuPage Regional Office of Education is excited to announce a joint partnership with the YWCA of Metropolitan Chicago to jointly sponsor the DuPage Early Childhood Collaboration (DECC). At the request of the DuPage Federation's Board, DECC moved from its current organizational home on June 29.
 
It is in the interest of both the YWCA of Metropolitan Chicago and the DuPage ROE to work collaboratively to support the success of our children and families. This partnership unifies efforts to provide a comprehensive framework along the Birth to 3rd grade continuum. Click here to read the entire announcement. 

Behavioral Threat Assessment - August 1
Behavioral threat assessment is based on crime and continual reassessment with the goal of establishing relationships with students, as well as determining possible risk enhancers within our schools. Potential indicators, threat assessment teams and threat management options will be discussed. Register here .

Central Office Network - August 9

Legal Lite for Teachers - August 7 or 15
Legal Lite for New Teachers will highlight the roles and responsibilities of new teachers. Professional conduct, DCFS obligations, confidentiality issues, computer usage, student discipline, special education obligations, free speech, leaves of absence, and more will be covered in a case study format. Back To School Fair - August 1 at St. Francis High School (see flier)
The ROE, in partnership with the tremendous volunteers and efforts of the DuPage Credit Union, Catholic Charities and other partners, is planning the annual Back To School Fair scheduled for August 1 at St. Francis High School. School supplies, backpacks and school kits will be distributed and several donor agencies will be in attendance to help with a successful start to the new school year. Monetary donations are being accepted and can be mailed to the DuPage Education Foundation (for check memo: Back To School Fair) c/o Diane Kucharczyk, 421 N. Summer Meals Illinois Available to DuPage Area Students 
Summer Meals Illinois, funded by the United States Department of Agriculture and administered by the Illinois State Board of Education (ISBE), provides children ages 18 and under with access to free meals during the summer. This resource is highly underutilized and it is crucial that DuPage educators share this information with families. Grants
DuPage ROE Awarded FY19 Prevention Initiative Grant
We are pleased to announce that the DuPage Regional Office of Education has received a Prevention Initiative Grant from the Illinois State Board of Education. The $969,000 grant will seek to serve 170 children and families in DuPage County.  Details on the application process for DuPage area schools to apply for funding through the ROE are pending. 
Professional D evelopment & Learning Opportunities
The Administrator Academy (AA) is a process by which local school administrators meet legislated requirements for continuous professional development. Details on the 2018 – 2019 Administrator Academy will be available soon.
Teacher In-Service for DuPage Educators (TIDE) Summer sessions are now open.
Kindergarten Individual Development Survey (KIDS) Trainings at the DuPage Regional Office of Education - August 2, September 6 & 14, October 18 (see flier)
KIDS is an observational tool designed to help educators, administrators and policymakers better understand the developmental readiness of children entering kindergarten.  Read more and register.

Family Engagement training sessions by the DuPage ROE provide customized support for school/district teams in developing and expanding school-family partnerships. Foundational Services
Foundational Services Grant Extended
ISBE has announced that the grant period for the Foundational Services Grant has been extended through August 31, 2018. This amazing news enables the DuPage ROE to continue to support professional development work through the opening of the next school year. DuPage Children's Museum Presents: 2018 Teacher Expo - August 29
Teachers, homeschool groups, childcare providers, scout leaders, PTA members and anyone involved with children ages birth - middle school are invited to the first annual free networking and educational event. Exhibitors include Anderson's Bookfair Company, Fermilab Friends for Science Education and Morton Arboreturm. The expo will be held at DuPage Children's Museum located at 301 N Washington St. in Naperville from 3:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. Click here to register.
