Join us on Friday, April 26th at 9:30am in Hopland to learn about a new winery wastewater regulation proposed by the State Water Resources Control Board (SWRCB). If adopted, the ‘Statewide Winery General WDR’ would regulate wastewater treatment systems at all California wineries that treat their process water via land application, subsurface (e.g. septic/leachfield), or tank and haul. It would not apply to wineries discharging to a municipal wastewater treatment facility (e.g. sewer).
In some cases, this regulation could change current monitoring requirements and/or necessitate significant changes to existing winery wastewater treatment systems. Click here for a summary of the proposed permit.
State Water Board staff will be at Brutocao Schoolhouse Plaza to present the Draft WDR and answer your questions. Your feedback will inform the regulation and help wine industry advocates in Sacramento provide meaningful recommendations to policymakers.
This permit is currently in its ‘administrative draft’ phase, which means now is the time to ask questions and share your input! If you operate a winery with a wastewater system, please plan to attend.
