Virginia is Expanding Medicaid!
The rules for health coverage in Virginia have changed.
Soon, there will be new health coverage that offers comprehensive, low-cost, quality, services. Beginning January 1, 2019, this coverage will be available to approximately 400,000 adults, including many people who work in retail, construction, childcare, landscaping, food service and other jobs that don't provide health insurance.
The new coverage will include doctor visits, prescriptions, preventive care, hospital stays, mental health services and more.
Under the new guidelines, a single adult making $16,750 or below annually may be eligible. A parent in a family of three with a household income of $28,700 or below may also qualify. An applicant must be 19 to 64 years old and cannot receive or be eligible for Medicare. Additional criteria apply.

Save the Dates for Statewide Summits on Behavioral Health and Oral Health!
VHHA Foundation invites you to attend the inaugural Virginia Behavioral Health Summit is sponsored by the Virginia Hospital Research and Education Foundation. It will bring together clinical, public health, law enforcement, and regulatory perspectives to explore the state of behavioral health in Virginia, and to collaborate on identifying and implementing a multidisciplinary approach to whole person care. The Virginia Oral Health Summit is an educational and networking event for Virginia Oral Health Coalition partners, community leaders, state agencies, safety net, and health advocates to explore innovative approaches to improve oral health across the state. It will take place on Thursday, November 8, 2018 in Richmond. Sign up for the Virginia Oral Health Coalition email list to receive Summit news and updates! Registration will open in late summer. VHCF will pay the early bird registration rate for a representative from each health and dental safety net organization who wishes to attend. Who Will You Nominate for an Unsung Hero Award?
The Virginia Health Care Foundation is now accepting nominations for its 2018 Unsung Hero Awards. These awards recognize outstanding efforts that have substantially benefited various VHCF-funded projects and their patients/clients. They will be presented at the Foundation's Heroes in Health Care celebration on September 18, 2018. Each winner receives a special award and a $2,000 gift from the Virginia Association of Health Plans for the organization nominating him/her.
Nominate someone from one of the following categories: volunteer, donor, physician, teamwork, or employee. The nomination packet includes additional information about the nomination and award process and can be downloaded here.
