Scottish Trivia

Located in the churchyard of the village of Fortingall in Perthshire, Scotland, the Fortingall Yew is estimated to be around 3,000 years old, which makes it one of the oldest trees in Europe.  The tree's massive 16 metre trunk has split into several separate stems.

Moisture is critical to the performance of cane reeds.  Too much moisture results in mildew formation on the reed, while too little results in loose bindings, open sides, and split cane.

What is a piper to do?  Ideally, you would store your reeds under conditions that maintain enough moisture that they can be restores to playing condition quickly, but not moist enough to result in mildew.  That is what the Piper's Pal is designed to do.

Benefits:
1) Reeds will always be ready to play
2) Reeds will stabilize quickly and remain stable when installed in the bagpipe
3) New reeds will be played in quicker
4) mildew and mold on reeds will be minimized.

There are 4 types of Piper's Pals available:

1) Piper's Pal- The blue storage case will hold up to 4 reeds. Piper's Pal

2) Piper's Pal Reed Protector- acts as a chanter cap and sits on top of your chanter to protect and humidify the reed.

3) Piper's Pal Alert Reed Protector- new for 2018.  An improvement on the original Piper's Pal Reed Protector with a visual indicator cap that tells you when you need to add water.
Also available in just an Alert Cap so you can upgrade your original Piper's Pal to the new Alert version.

4) Piper's Pal for Bands/Retailers- will hold up to 40 reeds.

Each version of the Piper's Pal also has its own Recharge Kit.  We recommend recharging your Piper's Pals annually.  Be sure to order the correct recharge kit to match the Piper's Pal that you have, as each one is different.

Kinnaird Backpack Pipe Case

"I have been using this case for a few months now and really like it. Given the price point compared to some other brands, I was pleasantly surprised
by how sturdy and well-designed this case is. I have just ordered a another one for my other set of pipes. I agree with one of the previous reviewers who said that when using it as a backpack, small things can slip out of the gap between the velcro and the edge. I avoid this by keeping a small case that is too big to fit through the gap. Don't put your keys or Swiss Army Knife in there without them attached to a lanyard affixed to one of the many rings on the case. All in all, I recommend this case so much I bought a second one for myself!"
