Reminder to all Trainers (formerly: Instructor Trainers)
All current Trainers must attend a Trainer Mandatory Update Clinic by December 31, 2018. There is one remaining Trainer Mandatory Update Clinic scheduled for 2018 in November (Edmonton). Course information and links to registration are provided below. If you have already attended a Trainer Mandatory Update Clinic please disregard this reminder.
Trainer Course (formerly: Instructor Trainer)
September 21-23, 2018 (Host: Town of Okotoks - Okotoks Recreation Centre)         Register
Trainers are responsible for preparing candidates to assume leadership roles as Lifesaving Society Instructors, Examiners, and Coaches. Trainers are responsible to teach, evaluate, and certify candidates for Lifesaving Society Instructor, Examiner and Coach certifications in the topical streams in which they are appropriately qualified. They may be appointed as a Mentor.
Prerequisite(s):  Application, leadership experience, current Lifesaving Instructor.
Candidates must complete the Course/Clinic Application Form and forward to the Society's office for approval prior to registering for course.

The City of Calgary issues National Drowning Prevention Week Proclamation
The City of Calgary has proclaimed July 15-21, 2018 as National Drowning Prevention Week. Thanks to Mayor Nenshi and the City of Calgary for their support of this important initiative and for bringing attention to the drowning problem and drowning prevention.
National Drowning Prevention Week
National Drowning Prevention Week is July 15-21, 2018.
The Lifesaving Society designates the third week in July as National Drowning Prevention Week (NDPW) to focus community and media attention on the drowning problem and drowning prevention.
The Social Media Plan  contains daily themes and key messages targeted to address trends seen in Lifesaving Society drowning reports and the data from the Drowning Prevention Research Centre. The key messages can be used on social media to promote safe behaviors while in, on and around water. Please include the #NDPW2018 hashtag in the posts.

NDPW Flag Raising Ceremony
We invite you to join us for a special National Drowning Prevention Week flag raising ceremony at Edmonton City Hall (the community flag pole is located on the southwest corner of the City Hall Plaza near the Cenotaph) on July 16, 2018 at 10:00 am. The City of Edmonton will display the National Drowning Prevention Week flag on the Community Flag Pole throughout the week. Friends, families and colleagues are all welcome to attend!

The Society is excited to announce the release of the Employee Certification Tracker. This is a new feature to our website that allows authorized Lifesaving Society affiliate members the ability to track their employee's certifications. The certification tracker is a customized function for adding and/or removing employees and specify certification groups to track.
