Our vision is to have a community where no kittens are born wild on the street, no cat  capable of living in a home is lacking one, and no feral cats are wanting for food, water,  and appropriate care and concern.

San Pedro trapping project a success!

On June 27 SAFCC did a mass trapping in conjunction with SNAP at the San Pedro Mobile Home Community. Of the 30 cats brought in, one was ear-tipped and two females were already spayed - so  they were ear-tipped and given rabies update. Residents participated by trapping and recovering their own cats. This worked well, so only 11 cats were recovered at the mobile home clubhouse.

The SNAP staff could not have been nicer. SAFCC volunteer Courtney Arispe did a phenomenal job orchestrating this mass trap project. Her neighbors were so appreciative, SAFCC received four donations from them. Courtney started planning two months in advance for this project and secured the mobile homes clubhouse for recovery. Thanks to SNAP for their vet services and to SpaySA for funding - without, which, this would not have happened!
SAFCC TNR class in the news
Thanks to Fox 28 for showing up and covering our TNR class held at Animal Care Services last week. The news spot highlighted the problem of San Antonio's outdoor cat population as well as how SAFCC and ACS work to humanely reduce the population. If you missed the news story, you can watch it here

SAFCC at the Dellview movie night

The Dellview Neighborhood association invited SAFCC to staff a table at their neighorhood movie night last month. The local church provided fresh popped popcorn for the event.Everyone was extremely welcoming and supportive of SAFCC's work in the community. The Dellview HOA made us feel like an integral part of the event. Debi had numerous conversations with people about TNR and was able to provide information and handouts. If you'd like for SAFCC to share information about TNR at your neighborhood event, please email us at [email protected].

78209 grant ending
Our 78209 grant to fund the surgeries of 50 feral cats in the 78209 zip code (Alamo Heights not included) is coming to an end in July. Please be sure to trap now to take advantage of this great grant opportunity.

A message from ACS Community Cat Program
Our normal limit on surgery days will now be 40. Any trapper that is anticipating bringing in 6 or more cats needs to get approval the day prior to arrival. We are asking that no more than 4 cats be brought in per person on Saturdays. Though the program is a first come, first serve basis, pregnant cats will take precedence on surgery days, to be determined at 7:30 am on drop off days. We will be closed for surgeries on July 5. If you are currently trapping, any cats that have medical issues need to be communicated upon trapping. We cannot guarantee that the cats will be treated the same day, should the proper procedure not be followed.
SAFCC cat of the month

Boo Boo Tiger is a sweet loving male grey/white tabby cat that needs a someone with a kind heart to give him a home. Because he has tested positive for Feline Aids, he needs to be a single cat or around other cats with FIV. Boo Boo Tiger was rescued off the streets after being chased by dogs and cats because he is a gentle and a non-aggressive guy.

A nice lady took him in and cared for him till he gained weight and was ready for a home. Boo Boo Tiger would make a great lap cat or someone looking for a relaxed and gentle cat. Please call or text Lorraine at 210-471-8462 Email: [email protected] for more information about this pet.
