Beauty crowds me till I die, Beauty, mercy have on me! -Emily Dickinson
Yellowstone

Every person needs to take one day away.  A day in which one consciously separates the past from the future.  Jobs, family, employers, and friends can exist one day without any one of us, and if our egos permit us to confess, they could exist eternally in our absence.  Each person deserves a day away in which no problems are confronted, no solutions searched for.  Each of us needs to withdraw from the cares which will not withdraw from us.
-Maya Angelou

My husband Ron and I made it to Yellowstone National Park. License plates arrayed from all over the country and languages from all over the world. The noise of a loud and bellowing Chinese man seemed disconcerting until we realized he was leading his large tour--the flock of ladies in the restroom were about to miss the next "showing" of Old Faithful. Run!

Next it was the traffic jam on the two lane road past a woodsy piece. "It's a moose!" they exclaimed, and really, it was pretty exciting. When our car slowly rolled by, we could see an elk sitting in the meadow, posing for their photographs.

Should we have just driven on by like we did? We're a little jaded, I guess. But I think our vacation was made memorable by the fact that now every animal we see off the side of the road gets a great big shout out, "Moose!"
