Industry experts discuss their dynamic careers and how to navigate the music business. The panel is moderated by Percy Bady with panelists Jamel Kimbrough (production), Walter Thomas (management), Sonya Blakey (radio), Jonathan McReynolds (songwriting) and Debra "Snoopy" Hanna (marketing). Presented in partnership with The Recording Academy® Chicago Chapter.

The House Music Conference at the Chicago Cultural Center from 6-9pm will include panel discussions on topics related to branding, culture, artistry and the business of house music. The evening's keynote panel at 6:30pm in Preston Bradley Hall is Anatomy of A Groove: House In Borrowed Space, discussing what goes into making space for the house music community and creating successful events. Additional conference highlights include the panel More than a Woman: Moving Beyond the Boundaries, discussing gender stereotypes in the music industry and how to set new standards, and Jeff Craven, founder of Large Music, speaking on Distributing and Licensing House Music in the Digital Age.
 
Opportunities for Individual Artists
DCASE recently launched the new City of Chicago Mural Registry, a publicly-accessible database documenting the growing collection of murals across the city on both private and public property. Artists, organizations and property owners are encouraged to register completed murals by submitting an application. For more information about the registration process application and process, visit chicago.gov/muralregistry, or attend one of our public information sessions on Monday April 22, 5-6pm and Tues April 30, 12-1pm at the Chicago Cultural Center (78 E. Washington St.) in the Millennium Park Room, 5th Floor South.

Curators and individual artists are invited to apply to curate exhibitions of work by Chicago area artists in the galleries on the first floor of the Chicago Cultural Center. Opportunities for Arts Organizations and Businesses
Proposal deadline is Wednesday, April 24 at 5pm
The Department of Cultural Affairs and Special Events (DCASE) is accepting proposals for backstage catering at the Chicago House Music Festival, Chicago Gospel Music Festival, Chicago Blues Festival, Taste of Chicago, Chicago Jazz Festival and the World Music Festival. Participants will find the Millennium Park Music Festivals are an effective marketing tool for their business. The public relations and good will generated at the 2019 Festivals will have a positive residual effect on the participants year round. Participants may also have the opportunity to gain more exposure as Chicago's media community strongly supports the events produced by the Department of Cultural Affairs and Special Events (DCASE). As part of the 36th Annual Chicago Blues Festival in 2019, DCASE invites existing Blues venues and promoters to list their blues-related programming in marketing for the 36th Annual Chicago Blues Festival. Potential programs must take place within the city of Chicago between June 3-9, 2019. In addition, the festival is waiving festival artist/band exclusivity for touring artists to enable Chicago-based venues the rare opportunity to present programs featuring artists and bands that are performing at the 36th Annual Chicago Blues Festival. Deadline to apply for Jazz and World Music is Saturday, June 1

The Department of Cultural Affairs and Special Events (DCASE) produces festivals downtown at Millennium Park. Major Festivals draw millions of people each year to Chicago. As part of the City's major festivals, creative businesses, venues, artists and nonprofit organizations are invited to participate as official festival vendors.

Application Opens May 15, 2019
Through this program, arts organizations can apply to bring a performance, program or event to the Jay Pritzker Pavilion in Millennium Park in 2020. The application will open and guidelines will become available on May 15, 2019. The application deadline is July 1, 2019 at 5pm CST. Please check ChicagoCulturalGrants.org in May for more information including an opportunity to attend a roundtable discussion to learn more about the program.
 
Applications accepted on a rolling basis
The DCASE ArtsSpace Program offers access to space at DCASE venues for free public programs organized by Chicago's cultural organizations. Applications for programs at the Chicago Cultural Center are reviewed on a rolling basis and must be submitted at least 120 days prior to the event date. Selected organizations will have their venue rental fee waived, but will incur operational costs for their programs. For more information and the application, visit ChicagoCulturalGrants.org.
 
DCASE produces Chicago's largest free festivals including Taste of Chicago, Chicago Blues Festival and Chicago Jazz Festival plus a variety of other festivals and events throughout the year.
