Holy Week

Tonight - Maundy Thursday - 7:00PM
If you have not been with us for one of these services before, please think about coming this year! We are trying some new and different things to celebrate this beloved night in Holy Week, which for many, is one of their favorite services of the whole year.

We will start with an Agape meal. "Agape" (Ah-GAH-pay) means "loving-kindness" in Greek. Modeled after "The Last Supper," it is a simple meal with special prayers. Then we will process down to the sanctuary for choral Eucharist. The space will look different, with lots and lots of candles (like Taizé services, if you have been to one of those) and a new and different seating arrangement. For anyone who wishes to participate, foot washing is part of this service, in remembrance of Jesus doing this for his disciples on that night.

Please join us! YOUR presence will complete the evening.

Friday - April 19 - Good Friday - 12:00PM -  Nursery Open

Saturday - April 20 - Easter Vigil - 7:30PM
First Eucharist of Easter with full choir. We will celebrate a baptism as a part of this traditional service. The service is followed by our first Easter celebration with a party in the McClain Room.

"Bring a Dish to Share"
Our Easter Vigil Party is the first celebration of Easter. Join us after the 7:30PM service in the McClain Room. This is a "Bring a Dish to Share" style event. Think "one bite" appetizers such as, mini quiche or pastries, sushi, cheese puffs, mini meatballs or crostini. Simply arrange your savories on an attractive plate and bring them to the kitchen. We'll do the rest.

 Sunday - April 21 - Easter
9 & 11:00AM - both services offer Eucharist with full choir.
Nursery open for the 9:00 service.

Children should bring a basket to participate in the
Easter egg hunt following the 9:00 service.

(Please note these times differ from our regular Sunday schedule.)

Yes we have class for our youngest ones! At 9:00, age three through Kindergarten will meet in The Good Shepherd Atrium as usual and will come up for the Peace. The True Vine Atrium children (1st and 2nd grade) will not have class and will be with their families during the service.

Rummage is a wonderful place to make new friends and connect to a large, multi-  generational group of people. Volunteers experience the deep satisfaction of giving their time to a greater cause - ensuring goodwill for all. We are steadily expanding our outreach initiatives, and in the last five years, more than $1,000,000 in Benevolence Grants were awarded to Chicagoland Charities dedicated to helping those in need.

But, we couldn't do it without support from folks like you!  Please join Rummage Director Annie Adams and the Rummage Steering Committee on April 25 to learn about opportunities to serve throughout Season 95 of Rummage. We are hosting a Coffee at 9:00AM and a Cocktail Hour at 7:00PM at the home of Elizabeth Parkinson, 321 Linden Street in Winnetka.  Kids are welcome. Please RSVP to [email protected] if you plan to join. We look forward to seeing you!   Unable to make one of the meetings, please share your interest in helping by clicking here:

JOIN THE CHRIST CHURCH LinkedIN GROUP
In response to parishioner suggestions, the Vestry has created a private LinkedIn group to allow Christ Church parishioners to connect professionally.  On LinkedIn, search "Christ Church Winnetka" and click on our group name to request membership.  We encourage our younger parishioners who are away at college or who have recently graduated to join as well since many parishioners have expressed interest in mentoring others interested in their fields.

Please feel free to share job postings, professional development opportunities and your own posts that you would like to share to the group.  We will be adding some resources to the documents in the coming weeks, including a list of Christ Church youth available for babysitting.

If you do not have a LinkedIn Profile and would like help creating a basic profile to allow others to connect with you for professional advice, please contact Sarah Generes at [email protected]  or 847-609-6098 for assistance.

A Just Harvest on Saturday, April 27
(4:30PM - 6:30PM)
Christ Church serves twice a month at A Just Harvest, a community kitchen, in Rogers Park, serving dinner 365 days a year to anyone in need. This is a great family opportunity to "reach out."  We need cooks (done in your home), servers, and people to provide milk, fruit, and salad each time we are "on deck."   To learn more go to:
The Winnetka Spring Cleanup, which takes place the week of Earth Day (April 22-25), may be counterproductive to the growing global sustainability movement. In lieu of kicking it all to the curb, Christ Church Winnetka is encouraging residents to Donate With Purpose to Rummage this year in honor of the world's largest environmental movement.

Rummage Donations can be dropped off at the back entrance of the Schroeder Building, located at 700 Oak Street. To help residents Donate With Purpose, Rummage is extending drop off hours the weekend of April 20. Doors are open Saturday and Sunday from 8AM to 4PM. We also offer complimentary furniture pickups. For more information regarding items we do and do not accept for donation, please visit www.christchurchwinnetka.org/serve/rummagebenevolence/donate/.
