CEO's Blog
On April 25, 2018, CSL received news that the Ewing Marion Kauffman Foundation is providing support to help 600 kids achieve more in school by staying in school. The Foundation in Kansas City is granting CSL $300,000 over the next three years ($100,000 per year) to the Family Stability Initiative, a unique partnership with school districts where we work intensely with families to keep kids stably housed and enrolled in their home school all year.

Like me, you can probably remember students that you were in school with that appeared one day, and disappeared a few days or a few weeks later. My oldest son, who is in elementary school, talks about friends that just leave. A local principal told me... Read the rest of this post...
CSL to Open BlendWell Community Cafe
in July
Now in our 102nd year, CSL is taking a dramatically-different spin on community development. BlendWell Community Cafe, at 10725 East US 24 Highway, is a new way to connect with our neighbors. The cafe will be a place for all people to meet, congregate, and build meaningful relationships. It will bring a cultural asset to the Fairmount Business District and US 24 Highway, and will be a place where neighbors can receive employment, financial, and housing support, all over a cup of coffee.

60 Barrels in 60 Days!
While school is out for the summer, the 60 days between school years are critical at CSL! Our team is hard at work raising support to ensure 2,500 students will have the necessary tools to be successful in the classroom in the Fall. Filling backpacks with school supplies, and stocking shelves with brand new pairs of shoes is top of mind at seven CSL locations.

CSL has kicked off a 60 Days of Summer Campaign to raise support for our upcoming Back to School Fairs!  We've aimed to place 60 barrels at businesses, churches, and other locations across the metro to collect school supplies, backpacks, and tennis shoe donations for this year's Back to School Fairs. We currently have 57 barrels throughout the area, but your help could allow us to better serve more kids.

Follow us on Facebook to join us in thanking our barrel partners! Interested in joining the Campaign? Contact us today!
