New Fire Engine Arrives in Palmetto Bay
MDFR Station 50 in Palmetto Bay welcomed a new fire truck with a traditional push-in Monday, April 8, 2019. Yes, the unit was literally pushed in by hand by everyone who gathered, just like they did with the old horse-drawn fire units years and years ago. Fire Chief Dave Downey introduced Mayor Karyn Cunningham who was joined by Vice-Mayor DuBois and Councilmembers Fiore and Matson. The Mayor thanked Miami-Dade Mayor Carlos Gimenez and County Commissioners (including District 8's Daniella Levine Cava, also in attendance) for approving the budget that allowed us to receive the state-of-the-art engine. It will provide added 24/7 protection to residents and visitors here in Palmetto Bay. The biggest thank you went to the Station 50 firefighters themselves. Mayor Cunningham presented these brave men and women with a key to Palmetto Bay. On behalf of all of us in the Village, we thank you!
