Safe Living in the New Year
Six of the poorest village families will celebrate their New Year under a new roof because of our new Safe Homes Project. This batch is the first housing collaboration between CCDO and Rotary Club of Sentosa, Singapore with more to come.

While the zinc roofing was provided, the community came together to help the recipients, some of them widowed single mothers, rebuild their unsafe palm thatched structures and transform them into safe homes.
On the day of construction, one of the neighbors, Saveth, an English teacher, reported “I grew up in the city, and moved here ten years ago. I would never leave because the people are so kind to each other in this village.”

The beginning of Khmer New Year is celebrated at all the schools with special meals and games. The children have the month of April as their school vacation.
Kids celebrating New Year
We are happy to announce that parents of the 11 new Angkor Thom village preschools have committed to contribute funds to the snack program, so their children can stay and learn for the whole morning. The early childhood education is a new concept for rural parents.
