Senior Sunday
Senior Sunday is on May 12, at 9:40 a.m. in the Youth area. This a time to celebrate all of our High School Seniors. We will begin our event with time to congratulate the graduates, refreshments, photo opportunities and more in the Youth Room.  At 10:00 a.m., we will move into the Youth Worship Room for the Senior slide show and a message from the Youth Team.

If your child is a Senior, we need PICTURES of them at all ages. If you have any video, we would love that as well! You can send pictures and video electronically to Tim (email or text), or submit hard copies that we will scan and get back to you. Please submit pictures to Tim by Wednesday, April 24.

Pictures we are looking for:
  • Baby pictures
  • 2 to 10 years old pictures
  • Middle School & High School Pictures
  • 1 Senior Picture
  • Pictures of your child(ren) with friends & family
Invite your friends and family to join us as we celebrate our Seniors!

Confirmation Sunday
All 8th grade students being confirmed on Sunday, April 28, will meet me at 9:10 a.m. outside of the sanctuary, near the refreshments.  At the end of the 8:20 service and beginning of the 9:40 service, we will go into the service for the congregation to pray for these students and their commitment to be confirmed. The students will be confirmed after the message during the 11 a.m. service in the sanctuary.

If your student is being baptized and chose to be baptized by immersion, please have them bring a dark colored shirt, shorts, and a towel for their baptism.  Since we will be going to the 8:20 and 9:40 a.m. services, I would encourage students being baptized by immersion to come to church dressed in their outfit they will be confirmed in and they can change clothes before the beginning of the 11 a.m. service.

VBS 2019: The Incredible Race
The time is near where families and people of all ages unite to serve, create and lead an unforgettable, God-filled experience for children at Schweitzer and in the greater Springfield community. Schweitzer's Youth and parents have been a pivotal part of VBS over the years and the hope is to continue that tradition by volunteering to help with VBS.  There are lots of different types of volunteers that are needed to make VBS successful.

Student Speaking Series
In this 5-week series, students will be speaking to their peers about how a relationship with Jesus changes everything - our identity, relationships, habits, and mission.  Student leaders will be challenging us to allow Jesus to transform their lives.

WEEK 4 - Land the Plane
This week, Matthew Kellerstrass will be helping us understand  that no matter the hardships we may face in our life, they make us who we are today in Christ, as we choose to walk by faith and trust in Him.

Next Steps . . .
As you go through this week with your student(s), look for instances to create some dialogue based on  the theme of this lesson. Consider discussing the following questions or concepts:

ReadMark 1:40-42 & John 9:1-12
Ask Is it easy or hard for you to trust God? Why?
AskAre there certain things in your life that seem out of your control? If so, what are they, and do you still try to control them?
Ask Is there a difference between trusting God and obeying God?
Ask In what area of your life do you need to trust God more?
