President's Message:

Dear Clients and Friends,

I wanted to write "Happy Spring", but yesterday, we had a snowstorm here in Chicago! I guess that was nature helping us appreciate the Spring that is soon upon us!

We have had a whirlwind of activities here at Protected Tomorrows this past month. And what fun it is! Between the new Parent University kickoff, and our new onsite webinars, we are so excited about the ways we are now connecting. We hope you are too. If you haven't had a chance to participate in our activities, let us know and Judy on our staff can make sure you get access to the new programs.

Finally, it will be a busy upcoming Spring and Summer with charity events, national conferences and even a little vacation thrown in here and there.

We look forward to seeing you at one of our events.
Warmest Regards,

Mary Anne Ehlert,
Founder & President

Retiring for 3 Workshop!

On April 10, 2019, Protected Tomorrows hosted a Retiring for 3! workshop at the Protected Tomorrows Life Care Training Center. Mary Anne Ehlert presented an in depth look at what Retiring for 3 means. The event was successful and so well attended that we are offering another Retiring for 3! workshop on May 8, 2019 from 6:30 - 8:30pm at the  Protected Tomorrows Life Care Training Center. This workshop is available to you at no cost.

Parent University: Designing the Vision - Concepts and Detailed Structure of the Life Plan on April 18, 2019!

Powered by Protected Tomorrows and presented by Mary Anne Ehlert, President and Founder of Protected Tomorrows, we are proud to offer you   our second in a series of educational workshops:
"Designing the Vision - Concepts & Detailed Structure of the Life Plan".

In this class, we will start to be the "architects" of your future. We'll work through together the vision of what you would hope to achieve, and the basic information you will need to gather to be ready to take the next steps.  Mary Anne will host this online Zoom class on April 18th, 2019 from 7:00-8:30pm CST.

Urgent ABLE Question - Guardianship

In 2018, the Administrative Rules for Illinois ABLE accounts were modified to address the problem that 'Guardians of the Person' were having when opening an ABLE account for their adult child. Now, a parent of an eligible adult child may open an Illinois ABLE account as an Authorized Individual by submitting a copy of the adult child's birth certificate. The birth certificate needs to include the parent's names. Parents of an eligible adult child who are under Guardianship of the Person, but not of the Estate, can use the birth certificate to now open an ABLE account.

April is A utism Awareness Month!

Study: Reworked Autism Definition Prompted Drop In Diagnoses
by Shaun Heasley

Five years after a sweeping overhaul of the diagnostic criteria for autism, research suggests that the  changes have led fewer people to be identified with the developmental disorder.

The definition of autism was reworked with the  adoption  of the fifth edition of the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders in 2013.   Click here to read more.
