Summer Reading: A Universe of Stories
Join us this summer for a Universe of Stories! We all know the importance of summer reading in helping to alleviate the summer slide in reading skills. Studies show that children involved in public libraries' summer programs have a reduction in skill loss when it comes to reading as compared to their peers. But how do we convince our students to join these programs, and stay involved throughout the summer? At Deschutes Public Library we reward each with a free book of their choosing. As they move through the program they can to come to the library to build solar robots, learn about game design, experience an escape room and more. Throughout the summer they will also earn more prizes and be entered into a grand prize drawing. DPL is your partner in combating the summer slide!  If you are assigning specific titles for summer reading, please send the list to [email protected] so that we can ensure we have enough copies. More information on summer reading is coming soon to our websitethe full schedule of Summer Reading programs and events will be published in late May.
