KVMR Newest Broadcaster - Peter Blachley

 He has come full circle....

Growing up in San Francisco, at the young, ripe age of eight, Peter waltzed nonchalantly into KSFO, where he was greeted by early, original DJ's saying "whatchu want kid?" And it was there he got his first glimpse into the world of music and radio.

Into young adulthood he moved to Los Angeles, where he worked several odds jobs including answering phones at Studio Instrument Rentals. Asked on a call one day "what do you do?" Peter blurted out the first thing that came to mind. "Shipping," he curtly replied. It was that phone call that landed him a job in the mail room at Capitol Records, a company he would remain with for 10 years. He advanced into creative services and marketing, and was hired to launch the latest in technological advances in 1981 - video! It was the year MTV was launched. His first projects included George Thorogood's video for "Bad to the Bone" (where you can sneak a peak of Peter playing pool) as well as videos for the Stray Cats, Duran Duran, Tina Turner and David Bowie, just to name a few!

It was in 1989 that Peter met musician and rock n' roll photographer, Henry Diltz. They co-produced the documentary film, "Under the Covers," a journey through a musical landscape telling the stories with locations, music and interviews with their musical subjects including the Eagles, Crosby, Stills and Nash, Jackson Brown, Joni Mitchell and The Doors.

In 2001, Peter opened the Morrison Hotel Gallery, the world leader in fine art music photography representing over 125 of the most highly acclaimed music photographers -- those who made, and continue to make, an indelible mark on music culture with photographic portrayals of the industry's most influential artists. Locations are in New York, Maui and Los Angeles.

And now in 2018, KVMR is blessed to have Peter as one of its newest volunteer broadcasters. Says Peter, "I have lots of surprises. On my first show, I plan on taking listeners on a musical journey through the renaissance of the '60s San Francisco music scene."

Ahhh, we can't wait!
