" We make a living by what we get,
but we make a life by what we give!”     ~Winston Churchill
    .
Dear Southern Door Community,
Volunteering is not just something nice that people do but it has an enormous impact on the health and well-being of others, and in our case, the education in our school community. The image of the volunteer has changed over time. Now volunteers come from all walks of life. They may be teenagers in the Big Brothers Big Sisters program, or helping with a youth sports program. They may be retirees coming back to the classroom to provide assistance, individuals coming in to tutor students, or alumni groups raising funds for our programs. Volunteers are also the individuals who share their expertise with our classrooms, or on advisory committees; adults chaperoning field trips or providing classroom treats, and those assisting with our co-curricular programs and productions. They are the ones who put up displays, make things for children, and the list goes on and on.

We would like to take this time during National Volunteer Recognition Week, to thank all our volunteers for the role modeling they provide each and every day of service to others in our schools, our churches, non-profit agencies, or the community. With all the societal needs these days, our world could use a lot more people like our volunteers, stepping beyond themselves, to "make a difference" for others, and in so doing, helping to make our community Eagle Proud and Eagle Strong!
