Dear Friends,

After over two and a half years of opposing the Sheriff's contract with ICE, today we celebrate the Sacramento County Board of Supervisors' vote to end the Sacramento Sheriff's ICE contract, putting families first and reflecting Sacramentos values!  Sacramento ACT leaders along with many partners testified in favor of ending the contract at the Board of Supervisor's meeting.

Supervisors voted 3-2 yesterday to end the contract.  Thank you to Supervisors Don Nottoli, Patrick Kennedy and Phil Serna. After the vote, Supervisor Don Nottoli  stated "The Board voted not to renew the contract. There was compelling testimony from people affected by the contract and although there will be a fiscal impact, I believe the Board made the right choice."

Countless advocates throughout Sacramento reflected our shared faith values reminding us that there is no sacredness, there is no dignity in either exploiting or being exploited. We would like to thank everyone for their participation throughout this community effort. Let's continue to build, to organize, and move forward.

Sacramento ACT GOTV
Yesterday, we celebrated the last day of the election in Sacramento County. We are excited to announce that through our civic engagement program in the last 6 weeks, we contacted over 23,000 voters in Sacramento and received over 16,000 commitments to vote in the Sheriff & DA Race in this important election. We engaged dozens of volunteers during our weekly canvasses and also launched a texting campaign that resulted in nearly 700 voting commitments. Big thanks to our partner and member Mutual Housing of California, which hosted our phone bank at one of their sites! We are also grateful for all the volunteers and leaders that participated and helped us get the vote out!
