Campus traffic advisory: Several events scheduled for Saturday at WKU
|
The LifeSkills Run for Autism race will close roads around campus beginning at 8 a.m. until approximately 9:45 a.m. The route from Bowling Green Ballpark will travel along Kentucky Street, University Boulevard, Normal Street, Regents Avenue and Chestnut Street as it returns downtown. During the race, these roads will be closed and access to campus will be limited.
When safe to do so, police posted at selected intersections will allow traffic to cross the race route: Adams Street at College Heights Boulevard (approach from Adams Street); Chestnut Street at 12th Avenue (approach from 12th Avenue/Broadway).

include Topper Orientation Program, Swimming Lessons, KIIS Orientation, KMEA Band Festival, Bowling Green Mini Maker Faire, WKU Volleyball tournament, WKU Softball doubleheader, WKU Football Spring Game, 2019 Side by Side Exhibit Opening, Gatton Academy Prom, Amazing Tones of Joy event and WKU Jazz Band Concert.

This morning through Saturday buses will be using the loading/unloading zone on College Heights Boulevard near College High Hall for the KMEA Band Festival at Van Meter Hall. Please use caution in that area.

Dr. Whitney Peake, Vitale Professor of Entrepreneurship and Director of the Center for Entrepreneurship and Innovation, will be honored Friday at Purdue University’s annual Apex Awards, given to alumni from the Department of Agricultural Economics in recognition of career achievements.

Legislative update: Pension reform
|
Here's a message to the campus community from Jennifer Breiwa Smith, Special Assistant to the President for Government and Community Relations:
Tuesday afternoon Governor Matt Bevin vetoed HB358, the higher education pension reform bill. In his veto message, he stated that he will call a special session to address pension reform for universities and quasi-governmental entities before July 1, 2019. Joy Ladin to visit WKU on Thursday for presentations

Poet and author
Joy Ladin
will discuss her latest research in
The Genesis of Gender: Reading the Bible through Transgender Eyes
at 4 p.m. Thursday at Gary Ransdell Hall Auditorium.
She also will present
Transparent Trans Parent
at 11:30 a.m. Thursday at the Faculty House.
In 2007, Ladin became the first openly transgender employee of Yeshiva University, an Orthodox Jewish institution, where she holds the David and Ruth Gottesman Chair in English.
