Our annual Summer Reading Programs for kids, teens and adults kicked off in June and run through Thur., Aug. 30.

Nashville-Based
Twangtown Paramours to
Perform at the Library
Help us celebrate our music-themed 2018 Adult Summer Reading Program with an evening concert by the Nashville-based Twangtown Paramours at 6:30 p.m., Tues., July 10 in a performance that will delight audiences of all ages.
Their music has been called "sophisticated Americana" and is a hybrid of the Nashville and Austin music scenes. Mike Lewis and MaryBeth Zamer, who make up the husband-and-wife acoustic duo, are known for their well-crafted and award-winning songs, top-notch lead singing and fine harmonies.
"We hope that some of our songs make you feel something or think about something you hadn't before, and that others simply make you smile," say Mike and MaryBeth.
The Twangtown Paramours are currently working on their third album. Their last record was released to radio in 2012 and reached #2 on the Folk DJ Chart.
This concert is free and open to all ages, and is supported through the generosity of the Wilfred M. Silvia Trust.

It's Ukulele Day at the Library!
Ukulele instructor Julie Stepanek joins us for Ukulele Day at the Library, on
Tues., July 17.
Instructional sessions will be held for all age groups according to the following schedule:
Kids -- 11:00 am. to noon
Teens -- 1:00 to 2:00 p.m.
Adults -- 6:00 to 7:00 p.m.

Drumming Workshops
for all Ages
Were you one of the lucky ones who danced to the fabulous drums of the Cape Cod African Dance & Drum (CCADD) group on June 16 for our Summer Reading kickoff event?
Well then, you'll understand how excited we are to be offering drumming workshops for all ages, presented by the members of CCADD. They'll be returning to the Library on Thurs., July 19 with this schedule:
Kids -- 2:30 to 3:30 p.m.
Teens -- 4:00 to 5:00 p.m.
Adults -- 5:30 to 6:30 p.m.

Mosaic Workshops for
Kids, Teens and Adults
Join us on Thurs., July 26, as artist and instructor Leslie Doherty will present three mosaic workshops for all ages, according to the following schedule:
Kids (ages 5-11)-- 1:30 to 2:30 p.m. (plexiglass suncatchers)
Teens (ages 11-18) -- 3:30 to 5:00 p.m. (small tile trivets or plaques)
Adults (ages 18+) -- 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. (mirrors)
Doherty, artist and owner of the Amesbury-based Ways of Color, has more than 25 years of experience designing, creating and teaching stained glass art.

Lip-Sync Showcase
Kids and teens can show off their charisma, creativity, and love of music at the Library's epic Lip-Sync Showcase on
Tues., July 31 from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m.
Participants can choose to perform (you don't have to actually sing!) or watch as a spectator. Sign up to perform a song by a solo act, duet, or group by July 24. When you register, also include the name of the song, which should be four minutes or less in length. All songs are subject to approval.
Really jazz it up by using costumes and props (optional) to help make your performance stand out. One lucky performer or group will win a $40 Amazon gift card. Refreshments will be provided.

This Month's Marvelous Museum Pass
The Heritage Museums & Gardens in Sandwich offer 100 acres of family fun, including three galleries and expansive gardens. You'll find an American Folk Art collection, a vintage carousel, American automobiles from the brass age to the present, and traveling exhibits the family can enjoy together.
Visit the country's most comprehensive collection of hydrangeas, more than 1,000 varieties of daylilies, hostas, herb, hosta, and heather gardens, and more than 1,000 varieties of trees, shrubs and flowers along beautiful and easily walked paths.
Families with young children will be delighted by Hidden Hollow a two-acre dry kettle hole where children can climb stepping stumps, navigate log balance beams, construct forts, create nature-inspired art, build with blocks, dig in sand, experiment with water, make music, engage in sensory investigation with plants, and more.
Each pass admits up to two adults (12+) and four youths (3-11) for half the regular admission price. Admission applies to all museums, grounds and gardens, but not the aerial adventure park or other ticketed programs.
Please remember you may pick up your pass any time during the three days before your visit, and return it by closing time the day following your visit.
