2018 World Masters Swimmers of the Year

Each year Swimming World magazine selects 6 men and 6 women out of over 250,000 masters swimmers worldwide, as their top Swimmers of the Year.  In 2018, three Pacific Masters swimmers were designated for this honor.

Bonnie Bilich of Walnut Creek Masters and Richard Burns and Laura Val of Tamalpais Aquatic Masters have been named for the 2018 honors by Fédération Internationale de Natation (FINA), the federation recognized by the International Olympic Committee for administering international competition in all water sports.  The award is determined on the basis of FINA World Records set during the year.  Last year, Bonnie set 4 LCM and SCM world records, Rich set 10 and Laura 12.  Remarkably, this was the 13th year in a row that Laura has received the honor. It is Burns' 4th time.
