Nazareth Baptist School's vision is:
Building the Rising Generations - Glorifying Jesus Christ through Distinctive Education. To achieve this vision, NBS provides opportunities for students to grow spiritually, academically, physically, socially, emotionally and psychologically.
Building the Rising Generations
- Third grade students prepared a special program for their mothers. A team from New Vision Church, Murfreesboro, TN helped organize a reception for the mothers during the National Mother's Day week. Each student made a surprise gift for her or his mother. They crafted a heart shaped necklace into which the child embedded her or his fingerprint. Each necklace was one of a kind. Each student wrapped their gift and wrote a lovely Mother's Day note of love. The event was very special and children learned to show love to their mothers.
Glorifying Jesus Christ
- During the Spring Spiritual Emphasis Week, the students studied and visited local biblical sites. They learned about the teachings of Jesus at these sites. There were activities, lectures and group discussions that reinforced the teachings.
Distinctive Education -
Students are engaged in many challenging academic and spiritual studies:
- Cultural learning is important to the Arab community. The students carried out a traditional Arabic wedding, including wearing traditional clothing, dancing and enjoying traditional Arab foods. It was a fun day for the students.
- Narrative 4 is a story exchange program designed to help students improve their lives, their communities and the world. The theme for this year was leadership and how to transform a vision into a reality. The students partnered with a guest school to story share.
- Friends of Nazareth in partnership with NBS is building partnerships with colleges and universities in the US where students might study abroad with the intent of returning to Nazareth as a successful citizen in their specified area. Representatives from the University of Mobile, Mobile, AL presented about their school and shared with 11th and 12th grade students how to optimize their opportunity for scholarships.
- Friends of Nazareth and the Potter's Wheel Youth Center are partnering to offer a SAT workshop this summer. This workshop will help students increase their knowledge of the SAT and give them an opportunity to learn how to improve their score.
- Third graders participated in World Autism Day. NBS students met at Mary's Well with students from a local Autism school. They sang together, had their faces painted and made posters to raise awareness of Autism in the Nazareth community.

Friends of Nazareth,
I've just gotten off the phone with FON Ambassador Rev. Terry Herald. Terry and I will be leading a team to Nazareth in a few days. Our team and a group of Local Baptist Church members will be engaged in renovating the Chapel. Terry is the former Executive Pastor at Whitesburg Baptist Church, Huntsville, Alabama.
If you don't know Terry you may recognize his name because we have been asking you to pray for his son Josh. Josh suffered a massive stroke in December and was in the hospital or rehabilitation up to April 10, 2019. On this date, he was able to return home to continue his treatments. Though Josh has a ways to go, what this family has experienced is nothing short of a miracle. We join them in saying 'to God be the glory'.
The history of the Nazareth Baptist School and Friends of Nazareth is also quite miraculous. Today, we are asking and believing God for more miracles. Will you join me in praying for His intervention and provision?
Here are four pressing needs:
- Camp season is coming! This year FON will once again join NBS and the Local Baptist Church in hosting camp for almost 850 students. Many churches, workers, volunteers, and groups will serve together to pull this off. We truly need God to move and we know He will. WE NEED A MIRACLE!
- Renovation Team 2019. As you read this article 20 persons from 5 churches in Alabama are working together to complete a 'huge' project. This work will be inside the building of NBS and the Local Baptist Church. Please pray for our safety, endurance, cooperation, and ability to get the job done. WE NEED A MIRACLE!
- Two (2) $50,000 Matching Campaigns. Because of the generosity of an amazing donor we have the opportunity to have every camp scholarship need met and to have the necessary funds to complete the next phase of our Earthquake Remediation Work. As of this writing we have a long way to go! Our scholarship drive has received just over $10,000 and the Earthquake Remediation fund is at $1,200. That means that between now and the summer we need to raise another $88,800. Bottom line folks, WE NEED A MIRACLE!
- We are still praying for additional land in Nazareth to expand our growing campus needs. Conversations are being had in Nazareth that make us hopeful...WE NEED A MIRACLE!
I remind you that God is able and we are believing Him for His perfect will and timing. Please join us at FON in asking God to intervene and supply the needs. WE NEED MIRACLES!
Dr Roger D. Mardis, President

During the upcoming Spring Break two student teams will be traveling to the US and Taiwan.
Each team will be partnering with a Christian school and will be learning about the local cultures and participating in various leadership and service opportunities.
Pray for the teams as they travel and expand their global perspective. May God grant them safety and a time of spiritual enrichment.
