On Monday, September 9, 2019 at the Cathedral of St. Mary of the Assumption, nearly 300 congregation leaders, officials from all branches of law enforcement, as well as the FBI and Department of Homeland Security, representatives of the SF Departments of Public Health and Emergency Management, NGOs, and advocacy organizations gathered for a highly substantive convening of information-sharing and networking concerning the issue of "Security in Houses of Worship." As a follow-up, the stakeholder committee and panelists compiled the following link of resources which we share with you today. It is our hope that you will, in turn, share this important information with the leadership of your communities and, where appropriate, post on your websites and social media outlets.

Of particular consensus was the interest of many congregation leaders to develop a security disaster plan for their respective facilities. To  this end, we encourage those interested in the creation of such a plan to reach out to San Francisco Community Agencies Responding to Disaster (SF CARD) Senior Program Coordinator, Heather Lee, at   [email protected]   as this is their area of strength and expertise.

Because of the serious interest in this particular subject matter, the stakeholder committee is in the midst of deliberations on next steps and appropriate follow-up to this important convening. We will keep you apprised of further developments.
