On Thursday, April 18th, we will be celebrating and honoring this amazing planet we call home by hosting an Earth Maker Day. This will be a school-wide event with the goal of planting seeds and setting off a ripple effect across our student body and local community! Students will take part in designing and making activities throughout the day to both create awareness, and also develop better practices and solutions that can be applied at school and beyond!

Our mission is to unite the importance of sustaining our planet, while being conscientious and innovative creators. Types of activities include a student-led assembly that will launch the 5th Grade “Green-ovations” Legacy Project in partnership with Ikea Orlando, cross-grade level activities with leadership coming from upper elementary facilitating projects for lower elementary, capped off with an upper elementary maker challenge to develop a plan of action that can better reuse and upcycle materials and resources.

As we prepare for this amazing day, and a greener future, we need your help! To support many of the activities taking place around campus on Earth Maker Day, we are in need of supplies for students to use during their design and makes. Please take some time and see if you have any of these materials you could donate:

  • Old/Used Crayons
  • Plastic Bottles
  • Plastic Bags
  • Old clothes, fabrics, and textiles
  • Odd-end materials and left-over parts (zippers, brackets, washers, handles, packaging, and anything else that can be up-cycled and repurposed)

Collection bins are placed at drop off!
