Pastor Paul White preaching
11:30am Worship Committee Meeting
Jesus does great deeds of power and gives his disciples authority over demons. Yet none of this power is unilateral; it all must be received by faith. Jesus asks his disciples to go out without money or supplies, so that they will be dependent on how others receive them. When we are sent from the assembly to witness and to heal, we are asked to be vulnerable, to be dependent on the reception of others. The Spirit always operates in the between: between Jesus and his Abba, between Jesus and us, between you and me, between us and those to whom we are sent.

This Sunday, July 8, our new Music Director Jacob Allen will be leading us in worship. He officially starts on August 12!

Living Right
"I must be living right!" You've probably spoken those words in the midst of a very good day. What does it mean to "live right"? Peter lays it out for us: "As servants of God, live as free people Honor everyone..."
(1 Peter 2:16-17 NRSV).
Those who are involved in Stephen Ministry, our congregation's one-to-one caregiving ministry, do just that. They serve God and respect others by providing Christian care. Is this a way you want to serve the Lord? If so, contact Pastor Cliff or one of our current Stephen Ministers (Paul White, Nancy Lendman, Lisa Bahlinger, Karen McCracken or Connie White). Classes begin September 8th.

"Tidbits of the Week" - July 1
Happy Birthday, America! Let's take time to be thankful for our great nation, created under God.
Welcome to Jacob Allen!!! We are SO glad to have you here, celebrating in Worship with us! The music Sunday, was awesome - a foretaste of the joy to come...
Many thanks to Zack Corpus for his offertory anthem, Sunday - it was wonderful and we are delighted that you share your talent with us! Here's to many more performances.
We welcome the folks in Family Promise this week. It's not too late to sign up for those empty slots. This is our way of reaching out to others in need, in our community!
The women of St. Luke were invited to Panera Bread Company in Trinity Commons, on Germantown Pkwy, this Wednesday, at 10am, for fellowship. It was a great way to start off the 4th of July!
CERT Training has been postponed until November, so please think about doing this training and invite anyone you know who would like to join us.
"If you can can, can you?" Ok. Jane is retiring from turning in aluminum cans, after many years of dedicated service to this project. The funds are used at church for those needs that crop up with a moment's notice and are not in the budget. It's pretty lucrative, so if we no longer turn them in, the loss will be felt. Please call Patti if you "can can."
Cliff Notes: This week's gospel told of the healing Jesus did while in the middle of speaking to crowds of people. He took the time to do this, even though it was an interruption. Two people needed healing and one person needed Jesus' attention. Jesus healed a woman who was ill for many years, and a child who was dying (the daughter of Jairus). These were humble folks, with no remarkable social status, but Jesus healed them because they were vulnerable and in need. Folks, we are all like those two people and there are many around us who need to be helped like they were. We must address those people and follow the path Jesus leads us on. As Christians, we are all tied together and involved with each other. Think about sharing time with the families in Family Promise, this week - it will be your "laying on of hands."

Facilities Maintenance Log Available
We now have a log book available in the office for you to note any maintenance needs you come across in the church!
In Mac's mailbox (Sexton) is a binder called
"Facilities Maintenance Log". Inside is a sheet where you can write what the issue is, where it is, who reported it and the date. Mac will check to see if there are needs he should attend to, and note when they are completed.
Thanks for helping keep St. Luke "spiffy"!
